Winsham Parish Council fosters community spirit by encouraging co-operation between councillors, residents and local businesses. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors by strengthening local relationships. We are committed to operating as an open, inclusive, representative and fiscally sound organisation.

Situated at the most southern tip of Somerset, just a few hundred yards from the Dorset border, and a couple of miles from a Devon border, it nestles in the sheltered Axe valley. Saxon in origin, it has retained its name for over a thousand years, and is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Winsham is a small but vibrant community that while enjoying and respecting its past, it is forward looking. As a result of its positive attitudes it has been able to retain all the essentials of genuine village life, for example it still has its own pub, community owned village shop, post office, a primary school, a well equipped 19th century village hall, St Stephen’s Church which dates back to the 14th Century, a United Reformed Church which has direct roots back to the non-conformism of the 17th Century, a well equipped recreation ground for children and sports field.
If you want to live in a vibrant, warm village community then Winsham is likely to be the place for you.
Winsham Parish also incorporates the hamlets of Ammerham, Bridge, Leigh, Whatley, Street and Purtington within its borders. Located on the B3162 Winsham village is 4 miles from Chard and 6 miles from Crewkerne.
Winsham Parish Council was one of the first to be created following the 1894 Local Government Act.
