Rida Johnson Young's play, which was inspired by actual historical events, was also used as the basis for the 1936 First National release Hearts Divided, which was directed by Frank Borzage and starred Marion Davies and Dick Powell (See Entry). ...

Jérôme Bonaparte, assuming the name "Jerome Laverne," visits Baltimore, uwhere he poses as a teacher and wins the love of Elizabeth "Betsy" Patterson, a society girl.
