Request for comment: Article title

[edit]

Should this article remain at Kotia (village), or should it be moved to a more specific title?

The current title uses the generic disambiguator "(village)". However, there is also another village named "Kotia" in Haryana (Kotia, Mahendragarh), so the present title may not be sufficiently precise. This village is also the subject of a longstanding border dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, so editors may wish to consider whether a different title would better distinguish the subject.

@Wikipicked: Use WP:RM, not an RfC. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 07:56, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
My intention is to receive comments on a title name which doesn't clash with the existing Kotia, Mahendragarh (which is a village too). I'll wait for more inputs. Correct me if I'm wrong. Wikipicked (talk) 08:39, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
The article needs to adopt a title reflecting the Andhra Pradesh Kotia village and its border dispute, as this is the primary subject of the page. Jptr11 (talk) 08:59, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
This is not an RfC matter. Please use the process described at WP:PCM; when you use {{subst:requested move}}, set the first (new name) parameter to a question mark alone. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:57, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Understood Wikipicked (talk) 14:32, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
As I am advised that this is not an RfC matter, I request closure of this RfC request.
Thank you in advance! Wikipicked (talk) 14:33, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Kotia (village) ? – The present title uses the generic disambiguator "(village)", but there is another village named Kotia, Mahendragarh. A more specific title may be appropriate to distinguish this article from other places with the same name. And this village is a disputed village between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Would something like Kotia (disputed village) be appropriate?

I am requesting inputs on the most suitable title following wiki's naming conventions. Wikipicked (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Move to Kotia (disputed territory). This is clearly an unusual case where there is a territorial dispute between subdivisions of a country, and therefore we cannot disambiguate by state. In addition, Kotia, Mahendragarh may be moved to Kotia, Haryana because it is unambiguous within that state. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:18, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Support this option. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:46, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
(Summoned by bot) I agree with LaundryPizza03 and Necrothesp. Also, Hon’ble Supreme Court is mentioned in the "Litigation" section and "Hon’ble" is unnecessary. -- Otr500 (talk) 14:39, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
