Deletion review (DRV) is for reviewing speedy deletions and outcomes of deletion discussions. This includes appeals to delete pages kept after a prior discussion.
If you are considering a request for a deletion review, please read the "Purpose" section below to make sure that is what you wish to do. Then, follow the instructions below.
Purpose
Deletion review may be used:
- if someone believes the closer of a deletion discussion interpreted the consensus incorrectly;
- if a speedy deletion was done outside of the criteria or is otherwise disputed;
- if there were substantial procedural errors in the deletion discussion or speedy deletion (including information of socks participating in the discussion);
- if significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify undeleting the page, and previously deleted content may be helpful for writing a new version of the page – provided that an administrator declined undeleting the page and their decision is being challenged;
- if a page has been wrongly deleted with no way to tell what exactly was deleted;
- if the deleted page cannot be recreated because of preemptive restrictions on creation that cannot be removed without a consensus after removal was requested and declined. Such restrictions include creation protection and title blacklisting.
Deletion review should not be used:
- to request undeletion of a page deleted on grounds which permits summary undeletion. Place such requests at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. Deletion review can be used if such a request is declined. (Undeletion may also be requested there for pages which are not explicitly eligible for summary undeletion, but such a request is usually declined; it is worth trying when substantial new sources have arisen after an article was deleted.)
- to ask for permission to write a new version of a page which was deleted, unless a preemptive restriction on creation is in place for which removal was requested and declined. In the case of:
- creation protection – request removal of the protection from the protecting administrator or, if the administrator is unavailable or non-responsive, request at Wikipedia:Requests for page unprotection.
- title blacklisting – file a delisting request at MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist.
- because of a disagreement with the deletion discussion's outcome that does not involve the closer's judgment (a page may be renominated after a reasonable timeframe);
- to repeat arguments already made in the deletion discussion;
- to argue technicalities (such as a deletion discussion being closed ten minutes early);
- to point out other pages that have or have not been deleted (as each page is different and stands or falls on its own merits);
- to challenge an article's deletion via the proposed deletion process, or to have the history of a deleted page restored behind a new, improved version of the page, called a history-only undeletion (please go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion for these);
- to request that previously deleted content be used on other pages (please go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion for these requests);
- to attack other editors, cast aspersions, or make accusations of bias (such requests may be speedily closed);
- to request that copyright violations, libelous, or otherwise prohibited content be restored.
Instructions
Steps to list a new deletion review
Before listing a review request, please:
- Consider attempting to discuss the matter with the closer as this could resolve the matter more quickly. There could have been a mistake, miscommunication, or misunderstanding, and a full review may not be needed. Such discussion also gives the closer the opportunity to clarify the reasoning behind a decision.
- Check that it is not on the list of perennial requests. Repeated requests every time some new, tiny snippet appears on the web have a tendency to be counter-productive. It is almost always best to play the waiting game unless you can decisively overcome the issues identified at deletion.
If your request is completely non-controversial (e.g., restoring an article deleted with a PROD, restoring an image deleted for lack of adequate licensing information, asking that the history be emailed to you, etc), please use Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion instead. - Be aware that requests which appear to be written by large-language models will normally be summarily denied. Write in your own words.

Commenting in a deletion review
Any editor may express their opinion about an article or file being considered for deletion review. In the deletion review discussion, please type one of the following opinions preceded by an asterisk (*) and surrounded by three apostrophes (''') on either side. If you have additional thoughts to share, you may type this after the opinion. Place four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your entry, which should be placed below the entries of any previous editors:
- Endorse the original closing decision; or
- Relist on the relevant deletion forum (usually Articles for deletion); or
- List, if the page was speedy deleted outside of the established criteria and you believe it needs a full discussion at the appropriate forum to decide if it should be deleted; or
- Overturn the original decision and optionally an (action) per the Guide to deletion. For a keep decision, the default action associated with overturning is delete and vice versa. If an editor desires some action other than the default, they should make this clear; or
- Allow recreation of the page if new information is presented and deemed sufficient to permit recreation.
Examples of opinions for an article that had been deleted:

Remember that deletion review is not an opportunity to (re-)express your opinion on the content in question. It is an opportunity to correct errors in process (in the absence of significant new information), and thus the action specified should be the editor's feeling of the correct interpretation of the debate. Deletion review is facilitated by succinct discussions of policies and guidelines; long or repeated arguments are not generally helpful. Rather, editors should set out the key policies and guidelines supporting their preferred outcome.
The presentation of new information about the content should be prefaced by Relist, rather than Overturn and (action). This information can then be more fully evaluated in its proper deletion discussion forum. Allow recreation is an alternative in such cases.
The usage of large language models such as ChatGPT to create deletion review nominations or comments is strongly discouraged and such contributions are liable to be removed or collapsed by an uninvolved administrator.
Temporary undeletion
Admins participating in deletion reviews are routinely requested to restore deleted pages under review and replace the content with the {{temporarily undeleted}} template, leaving the history for review by everyone. However, copyright violations and violations of the policy on biographies of living persons should not be restored.
Closing reviews
A nominated page that requires a community consensus decision should remain on deletion review for at least seven days (unless the nomination was a proposed deletion). In such cases, an administrator will determine whether a consensus exists after seven days. If that consensus is to undelete, the admin should follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Administrator instructions. If the consensus was to relist, the page should be relisted at the appropriate forum. If the consensus was that the deletion was endorsed, the discussion should be closed with the consensus documented.
If the administrator closes the deletion review as no consensus, the outcome should generally be the same as if the decision was endorsed. However:
- If the decision under appeal was a speedy deletion, the page(s) in question should be restored, as it indicates the deletion was not uncontroversial. The closer, or any editor, may then proceed to nominate the page at the appropriate deletion discussion forum, if they so choose.
- If the decision under appeal was an XfD close, the closer may, at their discretion, relist the page(s) at the relevant XfD.
Ideally, all closes should be made by an administrator to ensure that what is effectively the final appeal is applied consistently and fairly. But, in cases where the outcome is patently obvious, it is permissible for a non-admin (ideally a DRV regular) to close discussions. Non-consensus closes should be avoided by non-admins unless they are absolutely unavoidable and the closer is sufficiently experienced at DRV to make that call. (Hint: if you are not sure that you have enough DRV experience then you don't.)
Early closes
- An objection to a proposed deletion can be processed immediately as if it were a request at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion.
- Where the deletion discussion has reopened or changed, either by the closer of the deletion discussion or by an uninvolved administrator who has vacated a procedurally invalid non-administrative close,[a] and nobody has endorsed. In this case, the deletion review may be speedily closed as overturned or relisted as appropriate. The closer should fully reverse their close, restoring any deleted pages if appropriate.
- Where the nominator of a DRV has withdrawn their nomination, and no one has recommended any outcome but endorse, the nominator may speedily close as "endorse" (or ask someone else to do so for them).
- Where the closer of a deletion discussion acknowledges that their close was wrong, and no one has endorsed, the closer may speedily close as overturn. They should fully reverse their close, restoring any deleted pages if appropriate.
- Discussions may be closed without result if they are entirely disruptive. (e.g. disruptive or sockpuppet nominations, repeated nominations of the same page, a large language model is used to construct the request, or the page is listed at WP:DEEPER). These will usually be marked as "procedural close".
- ↑ Challenges regarding whether a non-admin closure was contentious or correctly assessed consensus should be addressed through Deletion Review.
Serious bias present in the deletion determination. Closer went against guidance from nearly half a dozen policies in opting for deletion, most critically the WP:GNG. The explanation they provide for their decision is extremely opinionated, commending many of the editors who voted in favor of deletion while explicitly disparaging several in support. They further opted to continue to litigate my WP:BLUDGEONING charge than consider any of my arguments on the basis of their merits. At some point, extremifying the dispute beyond what it was and refusing to engage with someone wholesale in the aftermath constitutes Wikibullying.
Admin did not appear to read the article prior to closing, as they note they generally don't do on the second paragraph of their talk page; the first argument they make is that NPOL discourages articles about political candidates unless they win an election
, despite the fact that Call has never run for political office. Their determination as elaborated on their talk appeared to focus more on the debating skills of those in discussion than on the actual weight or reality of the arguments they put forward.
The only additional claim they advanced, which also surrounds NPOL, is explicitly contradicted by language further down in the guideline, which states that its tenets only apply in the absence of a clear pass for GNG. CSGinger14 (talk) 05:43, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

- So let's start with the policy framework. NPOL discourages articles about political candidates unless they win an election because it's a subset of BLP1E and because the content is connected to the election not the person. Secondly, notable content does not have to be siloed in separate articles and this is covered in PAGEDECIDE which is a part of N, therefore has standing over SNG arguments too. Merges/Redirects are functionally identical. DRV has been adopting a harder line on expecting closing admins to give more weight to ATDs and actively expects admins to redirect or merge in the face of strong delete arguments. The converse for marginal keeps is also clearly the other side of the coin as it's in accordance with PAGEDECIDE. Finally, a straw poll at the village pump overwhelmingly rejected the suggestion that inherent notability under NPOL arose from statewide roles. As an admin I'm required to take that kind of input into account when considering opinions and it's not the quantity of opinions that apply but their congruence with policy and guidelines.
- So let's look at the votes:
- The nomination is a bit weak. Starts off assertive but the issues with failing NPOL were developed in a response
- CSGinger14 bludgeoned the discussion almost to the point of failure. I think they made made 26 posts out of 77 total posts. Many of these were sarcastic, offensive, battleground or just plain declamatory. I admit I found this exhausting and probably contributed to my finding little persuasive about their contributions. I'm counting their entire contribution as a single less then compelling opinion.
- Engineerchange stated that the coverage was substantial and that they were a major local political figure and were independently notable for embezzlement. No coverage was cited and the local role argument wasn't supported by the straw poll. My ears pricked up with the mention of criminality. Overall, I didn't find a strong evidence base in the vote and as assertive was quite weak.
- Magnolia677 raised issues with the depth of the coverage leading to superficial biographical content advancing that coverage was therefore election related, making a decent delete argument. The straw poll strengthened their argument.
- Enos733 asserted the gng pass but did not identify the specific sources that provided this. Your comments suggested that coverage was NPOL and criminality related. That's not the strongest argument but policy based.
- RightCowLeftCoast made the strongest keep argument so far, highlighted sources and the nuance in their description of sources suggested the argument was discerning. Those sources were not challenged at that point but were later on.
- Oaktree b, argued that the roles and routine coverage were weak to meet POL and that the criminality wasn't sufficient for notability on its own. Weak vote as assertive.
- Helpful Raccoon cited 2 sources but then acknowledged they were from the same author, reducing to one source. Reasonable vote, was challenged but not particularly strongly
- Voorts argued delete, supported oaktrees analysis and cited the strawpoll. I thought this was a decent vote.
- Katzrockso argued that the sources meant a gng pass and NPOL therefore didn't apply. Sadly that's not the way it's applied.
- Real_mouse_IRL argued that the straw poll didn't overcome a gng pass
- Lamona provided in-depth analysis of the sources relationships between the text and what they actually said. They showed how the sources used for detailed content were actually extremely short and therefore not substantial. This significantly undermined the arguments about gng. They also made a strong argument that so much unverified material was a blp failure and the criminality wasn't sufficient to meet CRIME. So far this is the best argument made in the discussion.
- PacificDepths then made another strong delete argument, breakingdown the case against inclusion in detail and challenging the depth of the coverage cited by Helpful racoon, and I have now checked the articles myself and I think they are right. This was another strong argument against inclusion.
- Dz5t 8O12 asserted the NPOL pass but I gave this very little weight as I believe the strawpoll is controlling on that point
- PA Uploader did a detailed analysis of the content against the sources and said they were mostly accurate but stretched beyond what the sources could justify. I thought this was overall neutral to the outcome
- There is then irrelevant back and forth but some offending content has been removed
- Katzrockso then advances an ATD to redirect to an article where the subject is mentioned and has context about them. This outcome is by far the most policy aligned opinion and reflects current DRV expectations. It's also aligned to historical precedent
- Red-tailed Hawk then rehashes the sourcing and other arguments but doesn't address the challenge about source depth and dismissed the option of a merge. .
- So where did that leave me. Lots of editors wanted to keep the article but, imo, arguments they met npol fail against the strawpoll. Most cited keep votes identified sources that had been argued to lack the necessary depth and appeared to be related to political campaigning and therefore falling under NPOL. There wasn't a clear consensus to delete as a valid redirect/merge target had been identified and that would be aligned with a COMMONOUTCOME,PAGEDECIDE and DRV expectations around ATDs. Which is what I found the consensus to be. This wasn't an easy close and I wouldn't say that this was the clearest consensus I have ever found. Continuing to beat a dead horse and simply ignore and disqualify my commentary by framing it exclusively through the lens of bludgeoning represents POV railroading, and shows a failure to focus on content. My replies have just as much merit as yours, regardless of how many there are, the one's of strenuous length had clear TLDRs or bolds included that you could follow; my major points were made quite clear rather close to the beginning of the discussion, prior to any noted controversy, and you provide no explicit reasoning to push back against my actual argument. The only analysis you provided was about the WP:CIVILITY of my statements.[1]
- Regardless, you are not supposed to make final determinations based on a headcount or straw poll; several times, you referred to such a poll to uplift Delete votes and disqualify the commentary/claims of Keep editors in situations where relevant, superseding policy was cited and a firm plurality or majority in consensus on those arguments not yet established;[2] that would be a local consensus explicitly stated by policy to be

I appreciate Spartaz for the thorough analysis of the comments, as this was a difficult AfD (as there was a straw poll that came out of this AfD that was discussed and decided at village pump). Spartaz rightfully alludes to its difficulty in his close and comment. Why I asked about this close on Spartaz's talk page were the lines in the close that the keeps were "policy weak" and there was only one "decent source analyses." To me, I read the discussion as a straightforward question of whether participants in the discussion thought that GNG was met (with everything else being a distraction) and each editor articulated their argument on that topic slightly differently and I do believe that there was no one definitive source analysis - not that the comments or engagement were exceptionally weak. --Enos733 (talk) 07:22, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Endorse (uninvolved) - Spartaz's full reasoning above shows that this was clearly within closer discretion, and it is the right close. WP:PAGEDECIDE is too rarely considered. Moreover this is a very combative review nomination, and the bludgeoning was clear in the discussion, and is now being repeated above. This is not helping. The stub it has been redirected to could be developed with more information about Call, and more information showing why the "Super PAC" is relevant and notable. Putting as much effort into that page as went into this AfD ought to improve the encyclopaedia, and ensure that encyclopaedic information relevant to this person is on the encyclopaedia. - Since we are asserting that this was not covered in discussion, I'd be happy to go over the numbers based on the figures others pointed to as being important (i.e Wikipedia:One hundred words, WP:SIGCOV, and WP:NPOL. having now done so, I can say with confidence that the claims made here by the delete camp are largely unfounded; I primarily concede concerns about accuracy, which are even still limited to a select number of sentences, and don't justify the wholesale removal of the article without any actual analysis of its contents beyond the parts raised in discussion. Here is an outline of each of our reliable sources cited in the article (TLDR in bold):

Even if you don't have an obligation to WP:SATISFY me, I absolutely have a right to question whether or not editors seriously considered my POV when I can clearly show exactly how their arguments prove that they did not (ed. or, at the very least, did not appear to) thoroughly analyze the same material they were making claims about or policies they cited. Not taking my commentary seriously because you feel I could've been nicer is serious neglect for any one of your roles as a neutral arbiter on this website. This is exactly what WP:Civil POV pushing is, and it's frankly even more disrespectful because it's masked behind the notion of respect where none is granted.

The subject is obviously a borderline-wikipedia-notable person, not a real politician but a failed candidate and party official, with many weak sources, and the best sources focused on one event ("Call was disbarred after an investigation revealed that he had embezzled roughly $280,000 in PAC funds during his tenure at Rebuild America Now.[2][3][4]".
- User:Red-tailedhawk, 02:16, 4 August 2026, posted an impressive looking !vote with three best sources, so I looked at them:
- 1. https://5280.com/man-on-a-mission/ is not independent, due to being a next-to-the subject account. It contains (lead with) direct quotes of a personal nature. It knows the subject's driving confidence.
- 2. https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-colorado-denver-political-action-committees-118996dad79c76e186a6442fb4a56ec6 Independent, yes. I am hesitant to accept a negative story as a basis for barely notable, but it is a public interest negative on the public record, not a report on their personal life. Is it SIGCOV? Is it brief, only 206 words.
- 3. https://gazette.com/2021/09/22/ex-colorado-gop-chairman-ryan-call-disbarred-over-mishandling-funds-at-pro-trump-pac-8b4e03ff-2f10-538e-896d-441b2629d82f/ is blocked
- So, #1 is No. #2 is borderline. #3 I can't see.

- The first piece is a magazine-style profile; those profiles tend to use this kind of language. I don't see why it would not be WP:INDEPENDENT. It's written by Eli Stokols (a reputable journalist), for a WP:NEWSORG, which clearly satisfies the independence criteria.

Hi, I believe there was no consensus for deletion. Nomination does not address the current version of the article. It just cites a 10year old, 2016 AfD and assert that the article was a repost of that deleted material. Only one delete is there and that's also lacking, citing just policy shortcuts. Last AFD was closed as merge in May. At the time of closure the subject was only known for founding a satire political movement and all of the coverage for the subject was based on the that single event. Hence a standalone article was not justified. Now the entire scenario has completely changed due to the major things happening in Indian politics. Now the subject is not only known as a founder of satire party. The 2026 Delhi Jantar Mantar protests was initiated by him. Reliable sources such as Reuters describe him as the most recognisable figure in the Genz protests in India. Apart from this many sources exists in multiple languages which were published after the last AFD closure in May. , , , , , are some examples of reliable sources giving enough coverage for the subject to meet GNG. Also as per WP:1E, when an individual is significant for their role in a single event, it may be unclear whether an article should be written about the individual, the event or both. In considering whether to create separate articles, the degree of significance of the event itself and of the individual's role within it should both be considered. The general rule is to cover the event, not the person. However, if media coverage of both the event and the individual's role grow larger, separate articles may become justified. If the event is highly significant, and the individual's role within it is a large one, a separate article is generally appropriate. From the above coverage it is understandable that the role of the subject in the 2026 Genz protests is very significant. The subject is also described by the sources as someone who was able to lead a successful protest against the current Indian government in the last 12 years which even the opposition could not do. Because of all the above said reasons, I believe a standalone article is justifed at the moment and request for the restoration of it into mainspace rather than keeping as a redirect. Regards. Followed proper citation format for Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia. A tool found a rehosted Wikipedia article and admin did no verification.
