John Martin (pentristo)

John MARTIN (naskita la 19-an de julio 1789 en Haydon Bridge apud Hexham, Northumberland, Anglio – mortis la 17-an de februaro 1854 sur la Manksinsulo) estis angla romantikisma pentristo, gravuristo kaj ilustristo.
Li estis konata pro siaj tipe vastaj kaj dramaj pentraĵoj de religiaj temoj kaj mirindaj komponaĵoj, plenigitaj per etaj figuroj metitaj en imponaj pejzaĝoj.
La pentraĵoj de Martin, kaj la presaĵoj faritaj el ili, ĝuis grandan sukceson ĉe la ĝenerala publiko, kaj Thomas Lawrence nomis lin "la plej populara pentristo de sia tempo". Li ankaŭ estis kritikita de John Ruskin kaj aliaj kritikistoj.[1]
