Resistance in glandular-haired wild potatoes to flea beetles

Abstract

The wild potato speciesSolanum polyadenium, S. berthaultii andS. tarijense have numerous four-lobed glandular hairs on their leaves and were resistant to the flea beetle attacking potato crops near Lima, Peru. Leaflets of 5.polyadenium that were wiped free of glandular hairs suffered much more damage than did unwiped ones.

Resumen

Las especies de papa silvestreSolanum polyadenium, S. berthaultii yS. tarijense tienen numerosos pelos glandulares tetralobados sobre sus hojas y fueron resistentes al ataque de la pulguilla en campos de papa cerca de Lima, Peru.

Los foliolos de las hojas de papa deS. polyadenium a los que se les quitó los pelos glandulares, sufrieron mucho más daño que a los que no se les quitó.
