i will talk about the deck and the tournament shortly, i just need to pour stuff from my heart a little bit first
i wish i was funny or witty, i have wished that for most of my life. Instead i just feel too many things and uh, they need to get out so that's the kind of write up that this is gonna be, whoops
i love this game, it means so so much to me. Netrunner is how i met my partner, wonderful friends, made memories i will cherish forever during trips for tournaments throughout europe, and always have things to look forward to. It helped me through a time where my life was not the best, made me reconnect with painting (people getting alt arts from me, and saying so much sweet stuff about it, thank you so much 😭)
and, lastly, it got me to finally stop playing yugioh.
For these reasons and more, winning a netrunner event meant a lot to me. Making top cuts has always made me so giddy whenever it happened, but i really did not think i would win something. My nick has nervous in it because nerves are really not my forte and top cuts are where i panic the most usually T^T I still can't believe it happened, my heart is full, more on ✨emotions✨ at the end
guys
i think seb is like, really good?
When the banlist was announced i wanted to adjust my seb a little. With Méliès gone i thought getting back to 3 transfers and less tread lightlys would be ok, getting a rising tide instead of the boomerang and cutting the pinhole that was not doing much. I figured most people would not use this mc to play an id about to get banned so i wanted to test it already.
boy was i wrong

davz131 told me right before the tournament not to name my deck like this

that it might help my opponent during side selection if they are hesitating
i laughed in his face and told him i would not make top cut anyways
i was lucky to be paired against only one méliès during the swiss rounds, and even more lucky during the game. Seb handled nuvem and leo pretty well otherwise, but i think the cut games were the most interesting, where it faced only mélièses
First game against MotionBlur was pretty tense, it was a Myōshu méliès and so pressuring the economy was the priority. The 3 transfers (and 2 katorgas to get them back) felt right at home there and i was able to defuse the boardstate before i got locked out
Then I lost to Cybershark's 3 measured Méliès. Charlotte cooked, I got got by a well placed byte, an early anemone sniping good cards, good ice placement, but also i panicked when i got to 6 points. Nerves are really not my thing, i began to fear double or even triple measured and tried to set up, saw my opponent was doing it faster, made some very bad runs trying to close the game and got measured, it was very well played
I somehow stumbled into the finale after a reset, but was certain i would again not be able to handle this decklist once more. stream game is here
Early i focused on setting up, and quickly there was an early push in the remote that I thought i could try to contest, but was stopped by an anoetic. Thinking it was a charlotte and too afraid to facecheck ice crew-less, i leave it alone for my last click, and he ends up scoring a rege fuji turn 5 😱 but dropping to 6 credits doing so.
From there, seeing the only anemone in the bin, katorga ing crew, priv accessing some more friends, and multiple transfers, i was able to contest the economy/remote until the end, still very mindful that at any time i could make a mistake that would cost me the game.
It still felt unreal when i closed it, but it was a hell of a game, very well played of cybershark 🔥
This game and community truly are one of a kind. Winning felt good but it truly pales in comparison of how happy i felt reading all the kind messages i received, and i want to thank them very much :
