{"id":248440,"date":"2019-06-17T10:00:41","date_gmt":"2019-06-17T14:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rbr.com\/?p=248440"},"modified":"2019-06-17T09:57:39","modified_gmt":"2019-06-17T13:57:39","slug":"licensee-problems-lead-to-sagamorehill-deal-shift","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rbr.com\/licensee-problems-lead-to-sagamorehill-deal-shift\/","title":{"rendered":"Licensee Problems Lead To SagamoreHill Deal Shift"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A low-power Iowa TV station operated by <strong>Bahakel Communications<\/strong> via a Shared Services Agreement with a company that assumed would be its new owner is heading back to the company that intended to sell it due to &#8220;problems&#8221; it suffered.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, a Georgia LPTV is being assigned.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>KGLU-LD in Ottumwa, Iowa<\/strong>, is a station Bahakel runs via an SSA with\u00a0<strong>SagamoreHill Broadcasting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been assumed SagamoreHill would be the owner of the station for months.<\/p>\n<p>Now, via a Memorandum of Understanding filed with the FCC on Monday (6\/17), it is now known that SagamoreHill &#8212; and Bahakel &#8212; will not have KGLU as part of their future plans.<\/p>\n<p>A prepaid amount of $71,000 is being refunded by the facility&#8217;s seller,\u00a0<strong>DTV America Corp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That is a licensee tied to\u00a0<strong>HC2 Station Group<\/strong>, the entity led by\u00a0<strong>Philip Falcone <\/strong>that is rumored to be having difficulty closing many of the deals it struck in 2018 as part of a plan to gain an upper hand on the data delivery benefits associated with the ATSC 3.0 next-gen broadcast TV standard.<\/p>\n<p>Closing of the KGLU did not occur, DTV says, due to &#8220;delays engendered by the problems encountered by the licensee&#8221; \u2014 DTV America.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of the refund, SagamoreHill successor\u00a0<strong>Roseland Broadcasting <\/strong>is getting another facility: <strong>WDMN-LD 14 <\/strong>in Augusta, Ga.<\/p>\n<p>The memorandum of understanding is dated April 4, signaling that the exchange of WDMN for the Ottumwa property has been completed.<\/p>\n<p>Roseland President is led by Julie Huang. It is based in Little Rock.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aaron Shainis\u00a0<\/strong>of Shainis &amp; Peltzman served as the buyer\u2019s legal counsel.<\/p>\n<p>The LPTV deal is the third in three months for Huang.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbr.com\/roseland-receives-sunshine-state-lptv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">On March 8<\/a>\u00a0Roseland agreed to purchase W34EC-D in Chattahoochee, Fla., from\u00a0<strong>CTB Spectrum Services LLC.\u00a0<\/strong>One week later, it agreed to an $80,000 deal that saw it acquire the following properties from Spirit of Prayer Ministries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>K04RL-D, Amarillo, Texas, FCC Facility ID No. 187582<\/li>\n<li>K03IT-D, Orange, Texas, FCC Facility ID No. 187584<\/li>\n<li>K13NY-D, Tyler, Texas, FCC Facility ID No. 187585<\/li>\n<li>New, Redding, California, FCC Facility ID No. 183127<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A low-power Iowa TV station operated by Bahakel Communications via a Shared Services Agreement with a company that assumed would be its new owner is heading back to the company that intended to sell it due to &#8220;problems&#8221; it suffered.
