note

National airline of North Korea was founded by the government of North Korea as CAAK Chosonminhang after the Korean War. Operations commenced in November 1955 on Pyongyang - Chita (CCCP) route. Airline briefly used name Korean Airways in the early 1990's, but changed to Air Koryo in March 1992. Because of political and economical isolation of North Korea, Air Koryo serves only limited international network. Beijing (1959), Macau (1997) and Shenyang (2000) in China are served regularly as well as Vladivostok (1996), Khabarovsk (1974) and Moscow (1983) in Russia. During the 1980s, Air Koryo aircraft could be seen often in East Berlin, Prague and other Planecon countries capitals.
