Heathenry (new religious movement)

Heathenry or Germanic neopaganism is a modern pagan religion. People that study religion classify it as a new religious movement. This religion was developed in the early 1900s. Its founders made it based on the pre-Christian religions and abided by the Germanic peoples of the Iron Age and Early Middle Ages. They attempted to remake these past beliefs by using surviving historical, archaeological, and folkloric evidence as a base for their beliefs. Though approaches to this material can vary widely. Germanic neopaganism is typically polytheistic.^[1]
