Wurtzite
Appearance

Wurtzite is a mineral. It is mostly made of zinc sulfide with small amounts of iron, and has the chemical formula (Zn,Fe)S. It is a structural polymorph of the more common mineral sphalerite. It is generally more stable than sphalerite at high temperatures, with sphalerite changing to wurtzite at 1,020 °C (1,870 °F; 1,290 K).[1]
Structure

Wurtzite gives its name to the wurtzite crystal structure. Both the zinc and sulfur atoms form hexagonal close-packed lattices, with the atoms of the other element filling half of the tetrahedral interstitial sites.
