These people are absolutely miserable, incapable of making real friends and connections because they are always "competing" with each other through these ego games. Ego-driven existence *is* "living chiefly for others". Circus and gardening is not.
This discourse is funny. CEOs are, in my experience, some of the most miserable people in the world. If they're going on "discovery" trips with drugs, they are already on their way out. It's not causative.
