Virgin Killer Scorpions

One of the best albums of all time.
While many people know this album for the wrong reasons it's a musical masterpiece of an era long forgotten.
Virgin Killer has a groundbreaking sound that changed metal forever.
The guitar work of Uli Jon Roth is breathtaking and Klaus' voice is as better as it could be, tracks like Pictured Life and Catch Your Train represent this brilliant combination really well.
Other than those great hits there are many amazing songs to be found on here such as the ballads
Yellow Raven and In Your Park which have deep lyrics and soft melodies and heavy rockers like Hell Cat and Polar Nights which have this Hendrix feel that Roth had at the time.
The title track was one of the blueprints for Thrash Metal and Speed Metal and includes an insane riff and a face melting solo from Uli.
In conclusion, this album is a well written and produced masterpiece that suffered miserably because of its disgusting artwork that atrracted too much attention and made people miss out the brilliant music that is on here, such a shame.

This is my favorite Scorpions album beside Blackout and Fly To The Rainbow. Just the whole pacing through the entire record is just amazing.
From Pictured Life to Yellow Raven is just a perfect start and ending. Pictured Life is also my favorite track on the album beside Catch Your Train and Virgin Killer. I really adore the riffs that Uli Jon Roth is making in the songs, really catchy.

You cannot talk about this album without mentioning the original album cover. I can see why it became so controversial but i do not see it as a really big deal. Yes, it featured a naked girl who was 11-12 years old. And rumors say it was the designers daughter or niece who was on the cover called Jaqueline.
I do not see the original as child pornography but they could have censored her genitals and made her wear a bra or something over her breasts. Actually i do really like the idea of having a album cover that strikes some peoples minds.
Art should be a little bit provocative and if it is, it can make up very different thoughts about it. Some say its not appropriate and some say it is. No one can change my mind about the original album cover.
I go in a art school so nudity in paintings is not really any issue, Nudity in paintings is art and not pornography.

I do find the updated cover also like-able but not the way with the original. I find that Uli Jon looks really funny in the group photo. He like bends down a bit and stares right into the camera.

Rudolf Schenker mentioned about the song Virgin Killer also fits with the cover. What i heard he said is if you read the lyrics of the song you will understand somewhat what they want to say with the song. (Time is a Virgin Killer) and i do understand what it means.
Children grow up and become older and soon they will come in this adult world.
Overall great album and great album covers both.

Can’t say a lot about this album except that it is an enjoyable listen. The guitar riffs on Hell Cat and Polar Nights are fun. I kinda wish He’ll Cat was an instrumental but I’m not saying that the singing is bad. The beginning of Crying Days is good and singing parts reminiscent of Winds of Change. Also the lyrics are not insipid like many of their album covers.

Backstage Queen is quite annoying and really and takes away from the album. Many albums w/ one or two sub par songs this is not the case but Little Donna over and over again is super irritating.

I will say that the tones on the guitar (lead and rhythm) are stellar. The final ballad on the song is great. So where does that leave me. Not everything that I listen to that is mediocre to good can be above a three and a half star. The would not be fair to bands like Aerosmith, AC/DC or Deep Purple. Still, I could listen to this album for days and not get board.
