⏰ Busy schedule? Clashing agendas? Or simply no time (yet) to explore International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) and DEval-Institute's latest reports and presentations on the effects of information, capacity-strengthening and behaviour-change interventions on food security and nutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa? Here is a 30-second snapshot of what emerged from several months of evidence synthesis, drawing on 3ie’s Food Systems and Nutrition Evidence Gap Map, which includes more than 3,200 studies. 📚🌍 With only a few years remaining until the 2030 SDG deadline, there are reasons for optimism about progress towards SDG 2: Zero Hunger. 🎯 🌾There is no silver bullet, but the evidence suggests that these interventions can generate positive effects across most of the six pillars of food security and nutrition. While effects are generally small to moderate, they show promise in helping households move out of food insecurity across Africa. 🔗 Achieving lasting change will, however, require a holistic approach: one that connects food systems with the wider social, political and economic drivers and constraints that shape people’s lives.
