This anime is great, but can only be endured once. The animation is certainly sub-par and very dated, since this was made in early 80s, but it's the story of survival during and after the effects of the nuclear bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima that makes this a must-see film. Barefoot Gen is one of those movies that you really need to be in the right mood to watch. After watching this movie again, I still love this movie. The story and characters in this movie are wonderful because they have great personalities and you really care about them in the movie. You really find yourself attached to the characters that you really want to cry when you see them"
