"Gen Z views David Cronenberg’s 1981 Canadian sci-fi horror masterpiece Scanners as a legendary, high-concept triumph of analog filmmaking. Thanks to its massive popularity on movie-centric social platforms, younger generations celebrate the movie for its legendary gore, intense corporate cynicism, and deeply influential body horror. Why Gen Z Celebrates the Movie: The Ultimate Exploding Head Meme: The legendary, jaw-dropping practical effect scene where Darryl Revok (Michael Ironside) tele"

" 10 Seconds: The Pain Begins. 15 Seconds: You Can't Breathe. 20 Seconds: You Explode. There are 4 billion people on earth. 237 are Scanners. They have the most terrifying powers ever created... and they are winning. Their thoughts can kill! Darryl Revok is the most powerful of all the scanners, and is the head of the underground scanner movement for world domination. Scanners have great psychic power, strong enough to control minds; they can inflict enormous pain and damage on their victims."

"Pros: The scanning! Especially at the beginning! His head blew up really good! It’s a very tense, and suspenseful movie that is very uncomfortable to watch. Music by Howard Shoe. Two words, Michael Ironside. Con: WARNING. Many, many heads explode in this film."
"Directed by: David Cronnberg Cinematography; Mark Irwin "
"Rated: R Why it’s rated: Scanners scanning people, and exploding heads! They blew up, really good!"
" "All right. We're gonna do this the scanner way. I'm gonna suck your brain dry! Everything you are is gonna become me. You're gonna be with me Cameron, no matter what. “David Cronenberg and a vast majority of his films are fascinating and unlike any seen before. As said before, he was/is a pioneer of body horror, but on top of being disturbing and making one feel intentionally uncomfortable the best of his work (the likes of 'Dead Ringers' and 'The Fly') entertain and stir emotion. They are very well made and more often than that boast great performances, with great music scores (mostly Howard Shore) and tackle daring themes in a way that is so unmistakably Cronenberg.
'Scanners' is an early film of Cronenberg. For me, it is not one of his very best or one of my top favourites of his, other films of his were more refined technically somewhat (a few innovative even, like 'Dead Ringers with the split screen) and tackled their themes deeper. It is ” read more
" Director: David Cronenberg His 12th movie My 12th movie watched from the director I came into this thinking there would be a lot more heads exploding, sadly only one. Cronenberg had such a distinctive style, this is another nice reminder. The final "battle" is something is a rare gem and so very weird.
