Link submissions and Posts

The moderator team at r/SoundersFC has sole discretion on any and all content posted on r/SoundersFC. We reserve the right to to review every instance and act accordingly. While these rules do exist, there are fringe instances where we may have to deal with something that is not mentioned here.

While the name of our subreddit explicitly mentions Sounders FC, we welcome content regarding soccer in the Seattle area (Reign, Defiance, Ballard FC, Sounders Academy, UW, etc)

Good Submissions are as follows:

Items about Sounders FC, Defiance, Reign, MLS in general, current and former players/staff/broadcasters
Items about other levels of the US men's soccer system, such as MLSNP or USL related to the Sounders
Items about the US National Teams (Sounders or Seattle matches)
Items about former Sounders.
Pictures or videos taken at games or major events or happenings (i.e. tifo, chants, march to the match, selfies with players, etc)
Transfer rumors involving Sounders FC players

Bad Submissions (Don't do these!)

Duplicates of items already posted, or links that do not add any new information or perspective on a topic already being discussed. Beating a dead horse.
Items focused on other MLS teams/players or leagues that does not involve Sounders FC, Reign, or other local Soccer teams (it's off-topic)
Posts that are focused on attacking the opinions of others about Sounders (i.e. "Look what r/soccer is saying about the Sounders now!")
Posts that solely attack or put down other supporters.

Links that blatantly editorialize in the post title.
Individual posts asking for streams (ask in the match thread for the game, or check out the match thread in r/mls).
Requests for or posts involving torrents, streams, or full downloads of games
Open questions about attending a match that are already covered by the First-timer's Guide
Content generated by AI or using AI tools

Posts must be original sources.

Sometimes someone will come across a news article from a BlueSky posted by a sports writer or league official. Often times these posts will link to an original article. Always submit the original article if it exists. If it takes more than 1 click to get to the news piece then it is likely a bad post. Avoid BlueSky as a source whenever possible.

Good Comments include:

Thought out and rational.
Backed up by supporting links if necessary.
Follow the rules of reddiquette.

Bad comments (Don't do these things!)

Flame, troll, or attack fans of other teams using cruel or abusive language.
Use racist, homophobic, misogynistic/misandric, fascist, or other hateful speech, even if you're quoting someone else.
Declare other fans as lesser human beings or fans because of the actions of their club, players, or front office.
Link to pornography or other inappropriate images.
Complain about upvotes or downvotes.
Fans of other teams trolling

Inviting brigades or brigading

Linking to, Cut and Pasting or Screenshoting a specific comment from r/SoundersFC to another subreddit, or other social media. Obfuscation of username is required, but links are outright prohibited. Do not troll other team subs, do not gloat, do not complain, do not engage. You can and will be banned on this sub for your activity on other teams subs.

Sales, Donations, and Giveaway Policies

Giveaways are allowed and must be tagged with the appropriate link flair
Ticket Sales are allowed but must be placed in the stickied thread at the top of the subreddit each week. Individual ticket sale threads will be removed. Scalpers be warned.
Merchandise sales are not allowed. Do not link your etsy. You may give away your merchandise but you may not make this your marketplace.
Charity Auctions, raffles, and events are acceptable

Self content linking

It is mandatory that you mark your own content as a "Self Promo" in the link flair options.

Additionally, sites that have been identified as spamming r/SoundersFC may be marked to have their posts categorized as spam more frequently, so as to discourage the generation of new accounts to continue the spamming with.

Bot accounts

Bot accounts are allowed in r/SoundersFC

Bot accounts will be banned at the sole discretion of the moderators of r/SoundersFC.

No e-mail/phone to protect owners from spam

Bots crawl reddit looking for phone numbers and e-mail addresses to spam, so out of respect for the owners please don't post them. Often you're just trying to be helpful, so either link to where the number exists publicly or send in a DM.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok submissions not allowed

You may submit a screenshot of a Twitter/X/Meta/Instagram/Threads/Facebook post only if that content exists in no other places. If the content is dual-posted on BlueSky or a website elsewhere, the screenshot will be removed and the mod team will encourage a re-submission from a valid source. If you do post a screenshot, please solicit alternative sources in the comments.
