When it comes to choosing whether to take a certificate or a degree program, there is no right or wrong choice. Choosing between a graduate certificate and a master’s degree depends on your goals, schedule and preferred learning path. Both options offer valuable opportunities to advance your career.
These graduate degrees will allow students to gain post-graduate expertise that will give you greater employability and flexibility. Whether starting your career, growing in a role or pivoting to a new direction, a graduate credential adds valuable knowledge and increases momentum towards achieving your career goals.
Course-Based Master's
Course-based master’s degrees are increasingly valued in today’s global economy. These programs typically include more courses than thesis-based programs, providing expansive learning that will be utilized in completing the degree’s required capstone research project.
Graduate Certificates
A graduate certificate is a credential awarded to students who complete a specific set of four graduate-level courses in a concentrated professional area. In some cases, credits earned through a graduate certificate may be laddered or stacked into a master’s degree. These programs can be completed in less than a year, are available in-person or online and with part-time options and have multiple intakes each year.
