Kubernetes (Official) never tried to include everything. No built-in CNI. No ingress controller. No observability stack. No CI/CD. Just stable abstractions and an ecosystem that could innovate behind them. Lakmal Warusawithana's new blog lays out why Internal Developer Platforms should take the same lesson seriously. Stop competing on which tools you bundle. Start competing on how cleanly you separate the developer experience from the underlying implementation. When you get that right, platform teams can evolve the stack freely without breaking the developer experience every time. Read the blog → https://lnkd.in/e-_V3kEA

Backstage has become the go-to developer portal for platform teams, and for good reason. One place for your catalog and workflows. OpenChoreo is built to make that investment go further. Instead of connecting Backstage to a patchwork of tools, OpenChoreo sits behind the portal as a full control plane, compiling developer intent into Kubernetes resources, enforcing policies, reconciling drift, and feeding runtime state back into the same Backstage views your developers already use. Catalog entries carry runtime semantics. Architecture diagrams reflect actual permitted traffic. Observability maps back to the right component without a context switch. Every portal action has a declarative YAML equivalent, so it stays GitOps-friendly. One tab for developers. One platform for engineers. One model behind both. Explore → https://lnkd.in/gendGKdA

When an AI agent can delete a database on its own, "who's responsible?" isn't a question you want to be asking after the fact. This is the gap we're tackling at WSO2. Most identity systems were built for humans and static machines, not for agents that act constantly and unpredictably on someone's behalf. Watch the full conversation below.

Organizations spend years and millions building Internal Developer Platforms. Adoption still sits at 30-40%. Artem Lajko's take on why: it's not the platform. It's the interface. Developers live in their IDE, terminal, and AI workflow. Every trip to a portal is a context switch, and context switches are expensive. His takeaway for platform engineers: stop thinking in web portals. Start thinking in context servers. Expose your platform as MCP servers and it goes wherever the developer goes. Kubernetes (Official) has become the foundation for modern cloud-native platforms, a powerful, flexible way to run applications at scale. Yashod Perera walks through how OpenChoreo builds on Kubernetes with platform-level custom resources: planes, projects, environments, deployment pipelines, component types, traits, workflows, workloads, releases, and runtime bindings. The article shows how OpenChoreo brings higher-level application and platform abstractions to Kubernetes without giving up the flexibility and extensibility of the cloud-native ecosystem.
