We now have a range of Q3 Mac shipment estimates between 5.8m and 10.0m, or between a 15.6% decline and a 40.2% increase YoY. These reports are beyond useless.

So…Apple completely broke push notifications with Safari 16 on Monterey? Clicking them now does nothing. (Tried the 16.1 beta as well with no luck, though they do work on Ventura.)

Every single time I open a game on my new 14 Pro Max, I get a big “What’s New in Game Center” splash screen that I need to actively dismiss. Even if I only leave the app for a split second, it pops up again when I return. Incredibly annoying.

Wow, Apple’s really pushing the trade-in bonus offer hard…promo on the front page and everything. The thing is, they just slashed trade-in values a few days ago. And if you read the fine print, the bonus on Mac is a pitiful $10.

This is an awful take. Sequential decline in iPhone sales is just due to product lifecycle…same thing happens every year. The cited research reports both show Apple’s market share in China actually rose significantly on a year-over-year basis.

So, Apple previously rendered Face with Hand Over Mouth emoji with open eyes, while everyone else had it smiley. With today’s betas, Apple conformed to be smiley & moved the old rendering over to the new Face with Open Eyes and Hand Over Mouth emoji.

My Gmail account has been remarkably clean for 17 years, and now all of a sudden it’s being flooded with spam…hundreds of emails per day. They all get auto filtered to my spam mailbox, but now there’s little hope of finding anything legit that gets miscategorized there.

Been trying to upgrade my wife’s MacBook from Mojave to Monterey and it’s been a 9-hour nightmare so far. Refusing to finish updating/boot, ending up with duplicates (old and new versions) of system apps, all admin accounts demoted to standard, etc.

Haven’t tried the fast charger yet, but anybody else seeing incredibly slow Apple Watch 7 charging on a standard charger? Like I just had it on charger for 40 minutes and battery level went up only 10%. Saw similar charging rate before bed last night.

If this is legit, it’s amazing. Virtually no bezel at all, which is why there has to be a notch. Very curious to see how macOS handles the notch.

This is a weird rumor, but it’s about the only explanation I can come up with that possibly explains why subtracting 74 vertical pixels from the display resolutions we discovered yields a perfect 16:10 ratio for both screen sizes.

Gonna keep complaining about the pile of crap that is Safari 15 for Mac. When you restart it and it reopens your tabs, it opens ones you closed hours ago instead of the ones you actually had open when you quit the app.

Pretty impressed by the iCloud postmaster team. Our newsletter emails sent to people with iCloud/Me/Mac addresses were getting blocked by Apple, so I sent them an email with details, and 8 hours later the issue was fixed. Fully expected the help address to be a black hole.

I love the way open tabs sometimes just disappear from the tab bar in Safari 15 for Mac. Still haven’t figured out to get them back beyond relaunching Safari.
