S60 3rd Edition to add VGA and HVGA and drop 352x416 and 176x208
|
| According to an interesting article posted @ S60.com, S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 will no longer support the basic 176x208 resolution as well as the 352x416 resolution known from N90, N80, E60 and E70. Instead, the platform will develop towards VGA and HVGA (640x480 and 640x240) as well as other resolutions like the 208x208 used in Nokia 5500. Hmmmm.... new, higher resolutions are always welcome and highly demanded and the 176x208 screens of N91 and 3250 look really obsolete so no one will regret dumping the lowest S60 resolution but why get rid of the 352x416? Because it's not a 'standard'? 208x208 isn't one, either... With the S60 platform some things have always been more complicated than they should be. |
