Beauty is changing. But "The People's Beauty Index" has the answers. Introducing Reddit’s first beauty report exploring how community is reshaping beauty discovery, confidence, and decision-making. The beauty industry has long been fueled by flawless feeds, expert claims, and the next big trend. But consumers are increasingly looking for something more useful: the person who already tried the serum, shaved their head, found the SPF that does not pill, and came back with notes. Across Reddit beauty communities, that shift is already happening: 💄 Posts mentioning “fix,” “hide,” “cover,” “correct,” and “conceal” decreased 32% YoY, while posts mentioning “embrace,” “highlight,” “enhance,” and “emphasize” increased 220% YoY. 👨🦲 r/bald reached 1.2B views, up 467% YoY, as people come together around confidence, identity, and self-acceptance. 🛍️ Nearly 7 in 10 beauty shoppers say they feel more confident buying a product after reading about it on Reddit. On Reddit, beauty is not dictated from the top down. It is tested, debated, and refined by the people living it who are offering confidence through community. • The internet is crowded with fake-hot takes, sponsored recs, and AI slop. So we brought receipts. Vanity Fair dug into our beauty report, "The People’s Beauty Index," highlighting what beauty communities have been saying all along: the best advice comes from real people with real routines and very strong opinions. “No-makeup makeup” is losing steam, experimental looks are climbing, and Reddit communities are shaping what people try next. Come for the trend data. Stay for the sunscreen lore. https://lnkd.in/gh4TQyNi

  • Beauty is getting a community edit. Today, we’re launching “The People’s Beauty Index,” Reddit’s first beauty report exploring how people are discovering products, building routines, defining personal taste, and making purchase decisions through real conversation. Across Reddit’s beauty communities, people are not just chasing trends. They are comparing notes, asking specific questions, sharing lived experience, and helping one another figure out what actually works. One signal says it all: nearly 7 in 10 beauty shoppers say they feel more confident buying a product after reading about it on Reddit. Because beauty advice hits differently when it comes from someone who has been there. See how Reddit communities are changing how people discover, decide, and define beauty. “The People’s Beauty Index”: https://lnkd.in/gjNbAbPp

  • Reddit met Jimothy and immediately knew he was important. Saleah Blancaflor’s piece in Inc. Magazine on Jimothy, Seattle’s newly famous raccoon, is really about something bigger than one neighborhood icon. It’s about where internet culture actually gets shaped. Reddit, wasn’t just reacting to the moment. It became the town square: part fan club, part group chat asking, “Wait, do we need a bobblehead already?” And the scale is wild: r/Seattle saw 29 million views as Jimothy took off, while the brand-new r/JimothyTheRaccoon community, started this week, has already pulled in 43,000 views. Reddit communities turn a local curiosity into cultural signals. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eTAqn9rF

🎶 In Snooooo York, the BEST people is what Reddit is made of 🎶 We brought Soccer People Are The Best to life in NYC as part of Reddit’s “People Are The Best” campaign, a celebration of the millions of people whose conversations, recommendations, and lived experiences make Reddit unlike anywhere else. Whether it’s live match reactions, tactical breakdowns that go way deeper than expected, or conversations that somehow outlast the final whistle, it’s all powered by people showing up and sharing real opinions, real experiences, and real connection. NYC showed up exactly how soccer people on Reddit show up every day: passionate, funny, and simply the best. Soccer people, you never disappoint. Thanks for being the best.

"As the rest of the internet becomes more automated, summarized - Reddit is still messy and human and authentic. And the more fake social media or the rest of the internet becomes, the more Reddit stands out." Reddit Co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman joined Maxwell Tani and Ben Smith to discuss Reddit's 21st cakeday, why authentic human conversation matters more than ever, how Reddit approaches AI partnerships, and so much more.
