Disco Never Died refers to the cultural rallying cry following the infamous Disco Demolition Night on July 12, 1979. On this date, Chicago radio shock-jock Steve Dahl held an anti-disco promotional event at Comiskey Park, culminating in a pile of disco records being blown up on the field. The backlash was heavily fueled by homophobia and racism, directly targeting the Black, Latino, and LGBTQ+ communities; pioneers of the genre. However, rather than disappearing, the music went underground, evolved into house music, and became a permanent fixture in club culture and pop culture.
