This is an effort to bring Our World in Data functionaility to Wikipedia

Internet-in-a-Box (IIAB) is an effort to provide Wikimedia and other health care content via physical media. This is for distribution in places where access to the Internet is limited or controlled. It provides a device with software which creates a Wi-Fi hotspot that offers closed platform access to Wikimedia and other content. In practice, this means that users who are physically close to the hotspot can connect to the device by Wi-Fi and access or download its content: Wikipedia slices, medical knowledge, videos and books. IIAB is not intended to further connect users to Internet access or to content, beyond what is presented in the Box itself.

The Translation Task Force is a project that began in 2011 in collaboration with Translators Without Borders to improve key medical articles via translation. Since we launched more than 5 million words of translated text has been added to Wikipedia and we have worked in more than 100 different languages. The content that has been generated have a readership in the 10s of millions a month.

We support a number of medical schools with engagement with the Wikipedia movement. This includes the University of San Francisco School of Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Sackler School of Medicine, and Aristotle University among others.

We are working to support the development of high quality health care information not only in English but in dozens of languages.

We are than distributing this content through both offline apps (for those with intermittent connectivity) as well as fully offline systems.

Our core strategy includes:

1) Collaborating with like minded institutions to improvement Wikipedia's medical content. Ongoing collaborations include with medical schools, Cochrane, the NIH, the CDC, and WHO among others.

2) Support the development of offline medical apps that people can download at no cost when they have access to the Internet and continue to use when they do not.

3) Distribute fully offline systems that create a wifi hotspot and allow the content within them to be accessed.
