About us
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the world's largest regional security organization. Its 57 participating States span the geographical area from Vancouver to Vladivostok. Born in the early 1970s as the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe, it served as an important multilateral forum for dialogue between East and West during the Cold War. It was also instrumental in tackling the numerous security challenges that arose in Europe after the collapse of communism. Today, the OSCE, its institutions, and its 16 field operations are actively involved in a broad range of security- and stability-related activities including election monitoring, human rights, legislative reform, rule of law and media freedom, as well as combating human trafficking, terrorism and the smuggling of small arms and light weapons.

A well-trained police dog can detect what human eyes cannot. Hidden weapons, ammunition and explosives are often moved across borders to fuel organized crime, terrorism and violence. Every successful detection helps keep dangerous weapons out of the wrong hands. Across South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, we are working on strengthening K9 capabilities by investing in better training, modern facilities and the people behind every successful detection. That also means creating more opportunities for women in a field that has traditionally been male-dominated. Safer communities depend not only on technology, but on skilled professionals, trusted partnerships - and sometimes, four paws. 🐾 Read the story 👉 https://bit.ly/4eGb81J

Have you ever wondered how supermarket shelves stay stocked or how fuel reaches your city? ⚓ Much of it passes through ports. As trade along the Caspian corridor grows, ports need to handle more ships while facing new challenges from climate change and extreme weather to aging infrastructure and increasing operational demands. Helping ports prepare for these challenges means keeping trade moving, reducing disruptions and strengthening the resilience of supply chains we all depend on. That's why we are working with partners to make ports across the Caspian region greener, smarter and more resilient 👉 https://bit.ly/3QZ3bM0

🌍 The Fergana Valley is a powerful example of how dialogue can translate into trust, cooperation and regional stability. 📍During a regional visit to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the OSCE Chairpersonship’s Special Representative for the Promotion of Dialogue and Confidence Building, Ambassador Dr. Serge Rumin, met with Deputy Foreign Ministers, Directors of Strategic Research Centres, regional governors and other stakeholders engaged in regional cooperation initiatives. Highlights of the visit: 🔹 Listening to the experiences of those advancing dialogue and cooperation on the ground. 🔹 Learning from the progress achieved through recent regional initiatives, including the 2025 trilateral agreements and the establishment of the Fergana Peace Forum. 🔹 Sharing experiences and good practices from Central Asia with partners across the wider OSCE area. In Fergana, Ambassador Rumin also participated in the Young Peacebuilders Cross-Border Initiative, exchanging views with young participants from across the region on the role of youth in building a shared future. From Dushanbe and Khujand to Tashkent, Fergana and Bishkek, one message stood out: sustained dialogue at local, national and regional levels creates the conditions for cooperation, mutual trust and lasting stability. 💡The experience of the Fergana Valley illustrates the potential of dialogue not only to prevent conflict, but also to foster cooperation and create the conditions for shared prosperity. #OSCE26CH Discover more: https://lnkd.in/ehQPrNyi OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek
