The event aims to foster stakeholder dialogue to discuss how to accelerate #inclusive research assessment in the European Research Area. Beyond presenting WG TIER's key findings and practical tools to mitigate gender bias in research assessment, the MCAA event will focus on on providing a transnational perspective to reflect on the experiences of international researchers. 🔬Building more inclusive, responsible, and impactful research assessment systems was the focus of the fourth webinar in the Building Capacity in the Ukrainian R&I Ecosystem series, jointly organised by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) and Science Europe. The session built on the progress of ongoing research assessment reforms, exploring how evaluation systems can move beyond traditional metrics towards more holistic approaches that recognise diverse research contributions and their broader societal value. 💬The discussion also addressed the opportunities and practical challenges of implementing these reforms across different national contexts, including through the work of CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment. The webinar featured valuable insights from Lisbet Crone Markussen, Josefin Thoresson, Laurence El Khouri, Matthias Kiesselbach, and James Morris, following a welcome address by Andrii Kuznetsov. The discussion was expertly moderated by Oleksandra Kyselova and Lidia Borrell-Damian. 📢Science Europe has joined a coalition of European research and innovation organisations in publishing a joint statement MSCA: Research Talent is Europe's Strategic Advantage. Published as discussions on FP10 and the next Multiannual Financial Framework continue, the statement calls for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) to remain a fully bottom-up, excellence-based programme within Pillar I of Horizon Europe, open to all scientific disciplines. The statement highlights the unique contribution MSCA has made over the past thirty years in developing research talent, strengthening research environments, and supporting Europe's long-term research and innovation capacity. It argues that, rather than changing the programme's purpose, Europe should build on its proven success by increasing investment so that more excellent researchers can be supported.
