Attack
Description
In a show of corporate pettiness, your target in this game is Apple Computers' manufacturing base. Steve Jobs was prepared for this seemingly-unlikely occurrence, and has a fleet of fighters out to shoot you down. Be careful to stay within the earth's atmosphere, and use your 35 bombs and 60 lasers wisely, dropping bombs on the structures and shooting down the enemy fleet. After the plant is destroyed the game loops. It was written in BASIC, and all graphics in the game are ASCII characters.

Destroy Apple with this text-based shooter
The Good
The best thing about this is the backstory. You play an IBM fighter/bomber and have to destroy Apple manufacturing plants in this horizontal scrolling shooter. The ASCII graphics are pretty decent, and there's sound -- prety decent for a BASIC program.
The Bad
I can't say I found this very enjoyable, mostly because of the game being either too slow or too hard (depending on your DOSBox cycles), and the controls not being very good for this kind of game.
The Bottom Line
A historical oddity, although it is highly questionable that this was developed and/or published by IBM. More likely, the "IBM General Utility programs" screen (which appears for a lot of similar early PC public domain/shareware game) was just added by a BBS, although details are still unclear.

The Good
The plot is peculiar and the graphics are quite nice for the time.
The Bad
The controls are quite poor and imprecise, which makes the game too complicated.
The Bottom Line
In this 1982 DOS game, the developer is unknown, perhaps because they wanted to avoid problems given its morally dubious plot.
In it, we take control of a fighter jet to destroy Apple's main factory. For some strange reason, Apple was expecting an attack of this kind, and a fleet of fighter jets will come out to meet us to prevent us from achieving our goal. With a limited arsenal of bombs and lasers, we will try to destroy Apple's base, and if we complete the mission successfully, we will start again.
It may entertain you for a few rounds, but the game is far from highly recommended.

The Good
Well, I don't like Apple, so this game really fit me well. It is also pretty fun. What you do is try to destroy the Apple manufacturing plants and avoid their ships. You can choose to dodge them or shoot them with your lasers, although you have a rather limited supply
The controls are also decent. Although I do forget to use the brake button while moving, they are good.
Back in the good days of PCs, there were no sound cards. No Ad Lib, no Sound Blaster, no nothing. There was the PC Speaker. PC Speaker sounds are not very good, but it is not fair to judge on things like that. The sounds are good for the 80's.
The graphics are pretty much the same. They are in ASCII, but that is also decent for the 80's. Although they could have been in CGA (Color Graphics Array) they are fine.
The Bad
People that like Apple will be turned off by the game. But why would they play this anyway?
The Bottom Line
Hate Apple? Think the PC is better than the Mac? Then download this great game and have fun!

Trivia
Development
While it seems impossible to believe that stodgy old IBM would create a program like this, it appears as if they did. The programming style and presentation conventions match that of all other IBM-released BASIC programs of the time.
It was probably meant to be IBM internal-use only, but was leaked.
