Hey all! I’m a 30 year old female and I feel like my whole life is a lie right now lol. Little backstory, I’m just a white girl from America who originally was from Europe (or so I thought) I never knew my dad’s side of the family besides my dad. My dad’s father died when he was very young but I’ve looked at pictures of him my whole life and knew he wasn’t fully white. I thought maybe Italian. After being curious for so long, I decided to do an ancestry test. I was shocked to see that I was indigenous American so I dug deeper. Turns out, I’m Chickasaw and my great grandfather is in the Dawes roles. I’m shocked. Now I don’t know where to go from here! I’m very white passing, so it’s a little weird for me to claim this side of me because I don’t want to offend anyone who looks more native. What’s my next steps? I would love to connect more with my people!
