PSA: "Limited Use Data" missing when creating a D&D Beyond Homebrew Action? Here's the fix.
PSA: "Limited Use Data" missing when creating a D&D Beyond Homebrew Action? Here's the fix.
Homebrew

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something I discovered while creating a homebrew Rogue subclass on D&D Beyond, because it took me quite a while to figure out and I couldn't find this step mentioned anywhere online.

I spent a long time trying to work out why the Limited Use Data section wasn't appearing when creating a homebrew Action. I found plenty of guides saying "click Add Limited Use Data," but none of them explained how to make that section appear in the first place.

The solution is:

  1. Create your Action.

  2. Set a Reset Type (Long Rest, Short Rest, etc.).

  3. Save the Action.

  4. Reopen the Action.

Once you've done that, the Limited Use Data section becomes available.

I had been creating a dummy Action first and leaving the Reset Type blank, so the Limited Use Data section never appeared. That led me to think the feature had been removed entirely.

Hopefully this saves someone else the same confusion and a few hours of troubleshooting. If you're trying to create a custom resource like Superiority Dice, Psionic Energy Dice, or another limited-use feature, this hidden step is easy to miss.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future!
