Not dissimilar to the likes of Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment has a Disney Channel background, and has emerged from this into the singer/songwriter world. As you may expect, she has many young Hannah Montanna fans tracking her performances, but don’t worry, they’re not as hard-core as Miley fans and didn’t disrupt my gig experience at all. I first came across Osment back in 2010 upon the release of her debut album Fight or Flight, and was pleasantly surprised. Her track ‘Lovesick’ especially grabbed me, and although it has hints of Disney pop influences, the tune is incredibly catchy and great to dance along to! I took my 16 year old cousin to her concert in 2011 after she’d showed an interest in her music, and was incredibly surprised by the performance we received. Osment has an extremely powerful voice, more so than she’s given credit for, and alongside this, her energy and enthusiasm is so infectious that it would be impossible to not enjoy the show. She worked her way through her album, as well as throwing in a couple of covers, and a bonus Disney track for the younger fans. Both visually and vocally the performance was fantastic, Osment maintained her intense energy throughout and put on a great show. I’d definitely recommend it for a really fun gig.
