Software Development

Run your cloud & serverless apps locally to reduce development time and increase product velocity with LocalStack!

About us

At LocalStack, we provide the #1 platform for local cloud development & testing, offering the most advanced cloud emulation for AWS services. Our aim is to assist individual cloud developers and enterprises in becoming solution nimble, optimizing costs, reducing contention, and delivering resilient and secure value to their customers. LocalStack is ideal for designing and testing highly resilient and secure solutions on your local machine before live deployment. Our platform facilitates integration testing of cloud solutions both locally and in CI/CD environments, enhancing developer velocity and feature quality. With LocalStack, you fully emphasize on black-box solution tests that fully exercise the inputs and outputs of your system, rather than solely focusing on unit tests. Our solution also enables rapid design and development of sophisticated cloud solutions with little to no changes needed for IaC pipelines. In addition, by emulating cloud services locally, LocalStack enables additional features and workflows that are not feasible on the cloud, such as local chaos engineering, IAM security testing, team collaboration, and more!

  • What if I told you that you could take a production bug report, hand it to Claude Code with the LocalStack MCP server and it would: 1. Deploy to application to LocalStack 2. Reproduce the failure from App Inspector traces 3. Fix the broken pipeline 4. Prove the fix ...all without touching an AWS account? The best part? Total cost $4.60 in tokens and 17 minutes. • When we talk about AI agent sandboxes, most developers think of tools like Daytona or Modal. These are code execution sandboxes that allow agents to run safely, but it doesn't mean that they have the infrastructure that they need to actually run. LocalStack is a different kind of sandbox for AI. It's an infrastructure sandbox, which means that it provides the full emulated infrastructure to ensure your agent can build, test and iterate *as if it's on the real cloud* but without worrying about causing real-cloud problems. • Dangling cloud resources are the silent killer of AWS budgets and CI/CD pipelines. When an integration test fails mid-run in CI, the teardown step often gets skipped. Idle S3 buckets, orphan NAT Gateways, and forgotten database instances sit in your staging account, burning money until the end of the month. Beyond the cost, provisioning live AWS resources in CI adds 10 to 15 minutes of delay to every PR. 😵💫 The fix? Run your AWS integration tests directly inside the CI runner container using LocalStack. Why platform teams make the switch to LocalStack: 🤯 Zero dangling costs When the CI runner finishes, the Docker container dies. No lingering infrastructure, no surprise bills. 🏃♀️➡️ 10x faster pipelines Test full Terraform, CDK, or SAM stacks instantly without waiting on AWS API provisioning. 🍻 Total test isolation Run parallel PR tests simultaneously without resource naming collisions or AWS rate limits. Stop letting broken pipeline teardowns inflate your cloud bill. Ephemeral integration testing belongs inside Docker 🐳 , not live AWS. https://lnkd.in/gbqdxz4A

  • "It works on my machine" is the biggest lie in cloud development. 🤫 You write the code, mock the AWS SDK, and watch your unit tests pass with flying colors. Then you merge, deploy to staging, and it immediately breaks. Why? 🤔 Because mocking AWS services locally does not replicate real cloud behavior. A mocked SQS queue does not care about visibility timeouts. A mocked DynamoDB table does not throw provisioned throughput exceptions or mimic stream delays. Mocks only test the happy paths you expect, not the complex realities of how cloud infrastructure actually behaves. The fix is to stop mocking AWS and start emulating it. 💪 Replace fragile SDK mocks with a fully emulated AWS environment via LocalStack, running directly in your local Docker container. Here's why this shifts the needle for engineering teams: 🧪 Run real integration tests Test actual event-driven architectures, like Lambda triggers and SNS fan-outs, directly on your laptop. ⏰️ Catch edge cases early Find IAM permission errors, payload limits, and state mismatches before they ever hit your CI/CD pipeline. 🏃♀️➡️ Reclaim developer velocity Run complete infrastructure tests on every single commit without waiting 15 minutes for a shared cloud staging environment to update. Bridge the gap between local development and production reality. Stop testing against a mock, and start testing against the cloud with LocalStack.

  • In case you missed our latest live demo session, the recording is now available! Recreating the exact state of a cloud application is one of the biggest challenges in development. Whether you're debugging an issue, onboarding a teammate, or trying to reproduce a CI failure, having the right environment matters. In this session, we cover how to: • Persist your LocalStack state across restarts • Snapshot and share environments with Cloud Pods • Restore preconfigured services and data • Improve collaboration and onboarding with reproducible local environments • Use LocalStack's new MCP integration to inspect, manage, and automate your local cloud with AI If you've ever thought, "It works on my machine," this one's for you. 🎥 Watch the recording: https://lnkd.in/gubXWpgF
