Increase Your Financial Aid Package

More and more schools are lowering their initial financial aid package offers with the expectation that students will ask for more. Don't let your first choice school low-ball you, especially if the package will not be enough to cover the costs.

On April 25, The Princeton Review is giving cash-strapped teens the chance to take a full-length practice test for the SAT or ACT and receive a detailed score analysis. Test-takers can also choose to take the Princeton Review Assessment (PRA) the same day. The PRA is a four-hour diagnostic test with sample questions from both the SAT and ACT. The test is meant to determine whether you might do better on the ACT over the SAT or vice versa.

This special offer is available to high school students nationwide. To find out how you can take advantage, call 1-800-2REVIEW or visit the National Testing Day page ASAP. Space is limited and reservations are required.

Cost Is the #1 Factor When Choosing an Online College

Tuesday April 7, 2009
According to a recent web poll on GetEducated.com, more than 90 percent of respondents say cost is extremely or very important when selecting an online college. More than 60 percent consider it to be the number one factor.

I thought poll was very interesting--and telling. It shows that students are more cost conscious than ever. The poll also suggests that the cost of a degree could make or break a student's interest in a particular school. If this line of thought continues (and I really hope it does), some of the online colleges who charge too much may be forced to lower tuition and fees to stay competitive.

What Do You Think?

Is cost the #1 factor when choosing an online college? If not, what do you think the #1 factor should be?
