As threats to voters intensify nationwide—from misinformation to voter intimidation—Asian American communities face growing barriers at the ballot box. AALDEF is rising to meet this moment by expanding our election protection program for the 2026 midterm elections and mobilizing our Justice in Action Corps, a network of well-trained, multilingual volunteers ready to support voters on the ground. From early voting through Election Day, we’ll be working across the country to ensure Asian American voters can cast their ballots freely, safely, and with confidence. Taking the administration to court

As the federal government moves to dismantle Temporary Protected Status for communities facing war and crisis in their home countries, AALDEF is fighting back in the courts. Our class action lawsuits have already helped secure critical protections for thousands of Burmese TPS holders and are challenging the unlawful termination of TPS for Yemenis who face devastating conditions if forced to return. Through litigation and community education efforts like our Burma TPS resource hub and Yemen TPS resource hub, we’re working to defend families, provide clear guidance, and ensure communities have the tools they need to stay safe and informed.

Protecting refugees from deportation

Southeast Asians, the largest refugee community ever admitted to the U.S., are facing an escalating crisis—as the current administration targets refugees who were displaced by U.S. wars and have built their lives here over decades. In response, our National Southeast Asian Legal Defense Network is expanding legal representation, training advocates, and coordinating rapid-response defense for refugees across the country. By bringing together attorneys and community organizations we’re creating the infrastructure needed to fight deportations, keep families together, and build lasting protection for our communities.
