June 14, 2026 pirates.fandom.com—Twenty years ago, Pirates of the Caribbean fans were eagerly awaiting the secrets of the DEAD MAN'S CHEST, reading the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow in YOUNG JACK SPARROW, reliving the original Disney ride, and beginning to build PotC Wiki—the Pirates online encyclopedia. As an ever-growing community of volunteers, the PotC Wiki project now celebrates its 20th year.
Our encyclopedia has reached over 3,000 articles so far. This was only possible with the work of hundreds upon hundreds of fans over the past twenty years. Most Wikians started off editing with little to no writing or coding experience, but our efforts have brought us closer to the goal of creating the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-presented resource about all things Pirates of the Caribbean. And even now, we are expanding the breadth, depth, and quality of our documentation of the canon continuities, as well as coverage of Pirates-related media and production behind the scenes. PotC Wiki has also made efforts in building a more friendly and welcoming community. Informed by our contributors' experiences, we have launched ongoing efforts in revamping our policies to be clearer and more fair, improving accessibility, and developing new editing tutorials.
Our work continues unabated. Thousands more pages need to be created, lack citations, await expansion, and could use more images. All the while, the franchise continues to grow and require updates. As we enter our third decade, we would love for more readers to join our crew! Keep to the Code and live the pirate's life with us in the next twenty years… 🏴☠️
