About the author

Kristin Dwyer grew up under the California sun and still prays every day for a cloudy sky. When she’s not writing books about people kissing, she and her spouse can be found encouraging their four overly opinionated misfits to get into trouble. Kristin is a part-time hair model and wants you to know she is full-time TSA PRECHECK, and one time a credible news outlet asked for her opinion on K-pop (it was the best day of her life). Please do not talk to her about your fandom, she will try to join.

The pace of this one is slow and gentle, allowing readers to experience Nieve's grief and the emotional turmoil she carries as she relives the last year of her life while trying to make subtle changes so the man she loves lives. In doing so, the ripple effects timeline events, some big, some small. Are all the changes due to her making different choices, or did she not notice small details the first time around? Which versions of her friends and family are true? What things did she miss? Nieve begins to see things differently, and as her perspective changes, so will yours.

In Time with You slowly digs its way into your very being without you even realizing it. Suddenly, you're halfway through, and you don't know which way is up and which is down. All you know is that you hope Nieve's strong enough to weather all that time throws her way.

As the end drew near, I wasn't ready to say goodbye, even when things were so uncertain, and Nieve was at her most vulnerable, rawest point, and my heart ached. I felt uncertain. Scared. I wanted to believe it would all work out, but as we know, time is a b*tch and demands payment in full. Sacrifices must be made. I cherished every moment, committing them to memory and tucking bits and pieces away to pull out later when I wanted to recall the profound feelings this story drew from my depths.

An Emotional Time Travel Romance That Kept Me Guessing
Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2026Thank you Wednesday Books via SMP Early Readers/NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the gifted review copies!
One thing I love about time travel stories is that the rules never have to be the same from one story to the next, and that was definitely true here. This book was a little hard for me to get through at the beginning because I was reading it during a difficult time in my own life, so the grief-heavy opening hit especially hard. But once the story got going, it became more intriguing than sad, and I found myself really invested in where it was heading.
I especially enjoyed Nieve and Max's relationship. It was interesting to watch it develop both from Nieve's perspective and from the outside as a reader who could see things she couldn't. Their connection felt natural, and I found myself rooting for them more and more as the story progressed.
What I appreciated most, though, was that the story didn't follow the path I expected. Every time I thought I knew where things were headed, it surprised me. Between the emotional journey, the time travel elements, and the relationships, this ended up being a really engaging read.
Jesse Vilinsky was a very enjoyable narrator and did a great job bringing the emotions of the story to life.

Well-Written but with Caveats
Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2026This book was well-written and sweet in some instances (in spite of a tragic circumstance).
My feelings about this book were a bit all over the place, to be honest. I think my biggest issue was keeping the time element straight itself which in turn tended to pull me out of the flow of the story. It was a bit confusing to keep up with the "when and how did this happen" as the plot line shifted and morphed every few pages. I understand that this is the central device of the book, but I do think it could have been handled a bit less convoluted for clarity's sake.
My other difficulty here (and it's a personal one) was a lack of connection to the characters. While I DID understand their feelings/motivations (for the most part), I often found myself feeling more like an outside observer rather than being pulled into the story itself (if that makes any sense). I felt that Nieve (and yes, I understand that she was a young college sophomore) did not handle the tragedy as she should have. She started out in the right direction, but things seemed to go downhill and became more complex than necessary as the story went along. And the denouement and the surprise turnabout ending, felt too contrived and happily-ever-after when I felt the chance of learning/growth from tragic events was entirely missed. So instead of the exploration of and healing from the main event in the story, I was pulled into an alternate reality that felt a bit jarring and surprising to me. I also felt that the person the book was centered around (one of the three mains) was not worth the effort that Nieve went through to work things out. That may sound harsh considering the tragic event surrounding that character, but I honestly did not feel that invested in changing that event for a more "comfortable" outcome.
All of this said, to reiterate the book was well-written, but I think it just didn't hit well FOR ME. I'm absolutely sure that it will resonate with others.

Time is a Thief
Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2026Kristin Dwyer’s In Time with You is a touching story of having second chances. It shows that Time passes you by unexpectedly and while we can’t actually go back in time, we can learn to truly “Live in the Moment”
Love will find its way to you if you give it time - if it’s meant to be for you. (Lo que está a pa’ ti - nadie te lo quita). That every event in life has a ripple effect and sometimes you need to stop, analyze & know what you want, but remember that all will come in it’s due time including love. ♥️

Time Travel, Grief, First Love and "Second Chances"
Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2026I have read my fair share of time travel romance books. More or less. This one seems to have obvious but almost spoken rules of the rules of what happens when you go back in time. Kind of how Michael Keaton explained it in "The Flash" with spaghetti 🍝 noodles. Look it up.
Nieve Monroe awakens one morning and finds herself back a year in time before her boyfriend Carter dies from a drowning accident. She finds him alive, and makes it her mission to save him. But as she goes on it, she starts to develop feelings for another guy, obviously so, but learns when you try to change the past, Time trys to auto-correct itself. The bigger the changes, bigger the ripples. Like in the show "Lost".
Overall it tackles serious issues such as grief, guilt, stages of grief, what if game. But, it does bring hope that even in life's darkest times, light can still be found even in the deepest chasms. Metaphorically speaking.
Kristen Dwyer did a good job defining her rules of time travel and made the characters as genuine as she could. Definitely looking Forward to reading more of her other works. Well done madam. 👏

Although I sometimes felt lost... i feel like the main character did also. She spent so much time trying to save and change what she thought she needed to. Instead she needed to learn to notice. There was ao much more she was missing. But Max... i loved his thread of it all.

When Love Meets the Past
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2026Nieve is drowning in guilt after the tragic death of her boyfriend, a loss she blames on herself. When her grandmother reveals there may be a way to change the past, Nieve begins a journey that blurs the lines between grief, love, and the magic of second chances.
Dwyer weaves a tender story of first loves, family bonds, and the heavy weight of guilt. The emotional depth shines through, though at times the pacing felt slow and I wished the storyline moved a little faster. Still, the themes of healing and the beautiful writing kept me engaged.
If you enjoy emotional YA with a magical twist, this one is worth picking up.
