After a fun couple of years at Bain Capital I'm delighted to be returning to Airwallex as CFO. The business has scaled significantly (!) since I left in 2024 but the mission - to build the future of global banking - remains as urgent as ever I couldn't imagine a better moment to be building at the intersection of next gen financial infrastructure and agentic banking. I'm excited to partner with Jack Zhang and the team on the next phase of our growth. I'll be based in our beautiful EMEA HQ here in London. We're hiring!

Introducing Airwallex AgentOS. A toolkit for AI agents to work with Airwallex directly from Claude, Cursor, or other terminal and chat-based agent environments. AgentOS gives your agent the tools to manage financial operations across your Airwallex Business Account, from money-in to money-out, in the way your business works. The toolkit includes the Airwallex CLI, three MCP servers, and a set of pre-built Skills to help you get started, including Contract-to-billing, Cashflow management, Beneficiary creation, and Card provisioning. With the Cashflow Management Skill, for example, your agent can work directly with your Airwallex Business Account to pull multi-currency balances, check receivables and upcoming payables, and surface FX options before a pay run. These Skills are examples of what’s possible out of the box, but AgentOS can support many more finance workflows you design and codify yourself. You can get started today by installing the AgentOS plugin today in Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and Cursor. For other agent environments, you can install the Airwallex MCP, CLI, and Skills directly from our website.

Say hi to Kai. Earlier this year, we introduced an AI assistant inside the Airwallex WebApp to help customers get guidance and take action through natural-language prompts. Over the past few months, it has become much more useful. It now understands business context, helps customers get set up faster, supports more workflows directly in chat, and knows when to bring a human into the loop when needed. At that point, “AI assistant” started to feel too generic. So we gave it a name: Kai. Kai is becoming a practical layer across Airwallex. It can point you to the right place, help complete tasks, recognize recurring patterns, and make finance operations feel much easier to navigate day to day. It’s also already handling 88% of user conversations without escalating to a human. And we’re still early. We’re working on broader analytics and intelligence, smarter payment acceptance guidance, and more help onboarding teams into Airwallex. Excited for people to try Kai.

“I see myself as a professional athlete in the world of business. If you play tennis, you dream of stepping onto the court against the very best - players like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic. If you’re a basketball player, you dream of competing in the NBA. I feel the same way as an entrepreneur. I want to be in the arena with the best builders in the world“ After Money20/20 Europe last week, the big question among fellow fintech nerds: What's next for global payments? Agentic payments, stablecoin rails, cross-border infrastructure, adjacent finance are all becoming the new fintech battleground. Who better than Jack Zhang, Co-Founder and CEO of Airwallex to unpack what it takes to rebuild global financial infrastructure from the ground up. In our latest #BenevolentDisruptors episode, Jack breaks down: ⚡Why AI will collapse 20 fintech categories into a handful of platform winners, and how Airwallex enables that by taking the path of "maximum resistance" 🏛️ Why trust remains essential for the rise of stablecoins, and is reaching a tipping point, unlocking game-changing global use cases. 🤖 Why agentic payments will take time and continue to rely on ‘wallets’ as the means of exchange Having known Jack since the early days, what’s left me most impressed is the mentality behind his growth story. Jack doesn't think like a traditional fintech CEO, he thinks like a professional athlete, competing daily with the best founders in the world. #Airwallex #Money2020 #Fintech #Payments #AgenticPayments #Stablecoins #Entrepreneurship #BenevolentDisruptors #BNVTCapital

Many companies still depend on busy finance managers to manually review and approve expenses. This quickly becomes untenable with expansion: different policies for different regions and entities, new languages and currencies, and an ever-growing pile of receipts to sort through. We’re solving this with Airwallex’s new expense policy agent, an AI-powered reviewer of employee spend. It evaluates card expenses and reimbursements in 100+ languages against the relevant policies for each of your entities. When an issue is flagged, it includes a link to the specific policy for faster human review. Employees submitting expenses get a better experience, as well. Your agent provides clear guidance at the time of submission, resulting in fewer rejections, less back-and-forth with the finance team, and faster reimbursement cycles. Your agent can also be customized to take actions that aren’t spelled out in your policies. For example, Melbourne-based Easygo instructed their agent to trigger human reviews when certain tax rates or prefixes appear. Get your agent activated, and scale compliance without scaling your headcount.

This month at Airwallex, we focused on helping businesses bill, collect, and manage money globally with less complexity. Here are our latest product updates across Billing, Business Accounts, Payments, Spend, and Developer Experience. → Airwallex Billing is now live. You can now create and send invoices, manage subscriptions, and charge customers based on usage from one platform. That means you can support one-time invoices, recurring plans, trials, upgrades, renewals, and usage-based pricing without stitching together multiple tools. → We’re making it easier to collect locally in Viet Nam. If you sell on Shopee or TikTok Shop, you can now collect Vietnamese dong directly using Viet Nam Global Accounts and receive marketplace payouts locally. → In Hong Kong, you can now accept Octopus in-store with Airwallex POS. Combined with Octopus online, PayMe, Alipay HK, and FPS, this gives you broader coverage of local payment methods through a single integration. → For your finance team, Airwallex Spend now syncs with Microsoft Business Central. You can import your chart of accounts, dimensions, and tax rates, categorise expenses against that data, sync vendors, and connect multiple Business Central entities to one Airwallex instance. → We’re also giving teams more flexibility and visibility in Spend. Employees can now request temporary card limit increases, managers can view team spend analytics, and card transactions are easier to search by merchant, card, or user. → Finally, we’re making it easier to monitor Airwallex service health. At status.airwallex.com, you can now view real-time status, follow incidents and maintenance updates, and subscribe by email, SMS, Slack, or RSS.

For the past several months, Airwallex has been the subject of false allegations originating with a board member of a direct competitor that include wild conspiracy theories about me. Today I am responding directly with facts and an independent security assessment that speaks for itself. I also want to use this moment to introduce Airwallex properly. We are a decade into building financial infrastructure that gives American businesses the ability to compete and win globally. That work continues. I was born in China. I arrived in Melbourne at fifteen with little English and no safety net. Australia gave me the education, the opportunity, and the freedom to build something. The United States represents that same promise, perhaps more powerfully than anywhere else on earth. We plan to keep building here. https://lnkd.in/edFBnMnN
