As beautifully animated as it is emotionally satisfying, Your Name adds another outstanding chapter to writer-director Makoto Shinkai's filmography.

Beautifully animated (we're talking Studio Ghibli standards here), Your Name captures that sensation of waking up from a dream you wish lasted longer, or misplacing a name that's still warm on your tongue, but has just departed. Go to Full Review

By the time Your Name reaches its moving finale, the Next Big Thing tag doesn't seem quite enough for Shinkai. He's arrived already. Go to Full Review

By the time Your Name reaches its final half-hour or so, the film has moved so far beyond its initial premise that if you think back to the beginning, you'll be astonished by how far it's come. Go to Full Review

As much as it is very well done, I don’t think it’s worth putting it up on such a high pedestal on par with the works of Hayao Miyazaki. Your Name is good, but for me, it's not worthy of breaking Spirited Away’s record good. Go to Full Review

Antoni W @Antonir 5h It's not beginner friendly, but if you can follow it, it's a great experience. See more Arhan H @RT48849548 Jun 13 The soundtrack by Radwimps is integral to the film’s soul. Tracks like "Zenzenzense" and "Nandemonaiya" perfectly complement the visuals—upbeat yet melancholic, blending rock with orchestral swells. The music doesn’t just accompany scenes; it amplifies the yearning and joy, making emotional peaks unforgettable. Voice acting is superb, with Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mone Kamishiraishi delivering nuanced performances that convey confusion, affection, and determination through subtle shifts in tone and delivery. Supporting characters, like Taki’s friends and Mitsuha’s family, add warmth and comic relief without feeling one-dimensional. See more Allen Prince E @RT57766994 Jun 8 I still love this movie after all these years. The story made me cry on multiple instances while watching the film. The body swapping and different time period concept was such a unique theme (atleast to me). The animation was also just so amazing and it still impresses me to this day. The soundtrack is also just as good and is very repeatable to the point that its on my playlist. An absolutely great movie that further put anime in the movie scene without being a Studio Ghibli film. See more Kalissa H. @kali_416 May 10 That twist was so good. I liked the second half of the movie better, but the whole movie was still phenomenal. See more Tim E @RT79953495 May 4 Peak filmmaking. Quite literally my favorite movie of all time and before this I wasn't even really the biggest fan of either anime or the romance genre. This movie changed that for me with one of the most heartfelt, tear-jerking experiences I've ever had with a movie. See more Read all reviews
