Delisting

Xevious was delisted from the Xbox Marketplace in Europe and Australia between December 2018 and June 2021, based on Wayback Machine captures of the game’s Xbox.com page. The game was later delisted in all remaining regions (North America, Japan, Korea) by March 31st, 2022, alongside other Namco arcade titles.

As is typical with Bandai NAMCO delistings, the cause is unclear and the company rarely gives advanced notice or explanation for its decisions. Like we have suggested in the past, these territorial delistings may be related to internal organizational changes within the sprawling international Bandai NAMCO entity. 

Availability

Xevious remains available on several digital platforms in other releases including HAMSTER’s Arcade Archives series. The game is also included in Namco Museum Archives Vol 1. It was previously available on PlayStation 3 in the now-delisted Namco Museum Essentials and the PSone Classics release of Namco Museum Vol. 2.

Xevious is also included in the retail Xbox 360 release of Namco Museum Virtual Arcade. However, there has been concern in recent years that some of the titles — namely the Xbox Live Arcade releases contained within — are no longer able to be acquired by using this disc. Other home ports of Xevious remain available on physical media for older consoles and devices.

XEVIOUS was released in 1982 and became an instant classic.
