I am Joseph J. Higgins, one of the coauthors of a publication cited in this article. Because this represents a potential conflict of interest, I am requesting review by independent editors rather than making the edit myself.

Suggested addition to the Parkinson's disease section:

"In 1996, linkage analysis of the Contursi kindred and related families mapped a Parkinson disease locus to chromosome 4q21–q23. Contemporary news coverage described the work as part of a gene-mapping effort involving researchers at the National Institutes of Health, and a later White House statement on the Human Genome Project cited the rapid mapping of a Parkinson disease gene as an example of accelerated disease-gene discovery."
