New resources for updating articles about VT newspapers and media

[edit]

@Jessamyn: Greetings from the northwest corner of VT! I just thought I'd mention that I'd recently noticed some new resources about VT media that I added to the Talk page for the list of VT newspapers. Given that I know you've done some editing in that space, I thought I'd just flag that these articles and the report are out. At some point I'm going to be going through and doing some updating of the various articles, but I'm not sure when. - Dyork (talk) 13:42, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Great, thank you! Jessamyn (my talk page) 16:42, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:MonteriaHightower.png

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:MonteriaHightower.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ebsco.com/research-starters

[edit]

where would this go in namespace Wikipedia: ?

from EBSCO Information Services

similar to a freemium encyclopedia.com yet WP:RS

Xo4v (talk) 16:53, 2 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Could you say a bit more? Jessamyn (my talk page) 02:35, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Is there a how-to get references place in wikipedia, like a user manual, that list online encyclopedias, first-attempt resources such as encyclopedia.com, that I could add www.ebsco.com/research-starters to
I noticed you did a fair-use add of File:EveBabitz.png, can this file be added to other language wikipedias? I mentioned this file on other language wikipedia Talk pages for Eve Babitz

Xo4v (talk) 02:53, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't know of a page like that on Wikipedia, but it's not my area of expertise. I feel like there are other sources available, I'm not sure why EBSCO would be adding anything specific and since they're a for-profit company, it would be hard to add it somewhere without it seeming spammy. The Eve Babitz image, if it's used on English Wikipedia under a claim of fair use, can't be used on other language Wikipedias. The fair use claim specifically says you're only using it on English language Wikipedia. Jessamyn (my talk page) 03:05, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
