Welcome and introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

Hi RamHez! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay.

I've noticed that you've expressed an interest in post-1978 Iranian politics. Unfortunately, due to a history of conflict and disruptive editing, it has been designated a contentious topic and is subject to some strict rules. This designation is broadly construed, so if you have to ask whether a particular edit is covered, you should assume it is.

Any edits you make contrary to the contentious topic procedures are likely to be reverted, and repeated violations can lead to your being blocked from editing. If you have any questions about the contentious topic procedure, you can ask for help!

As you get started, you may find this short tutorial helpful:

2026 Iranian Attacks in the Kurdistan Region - Update Error

[edit]

The dead and wounded are not Iraqi Peshmerga, but Iranian Kurds based in Iraq from the Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan of Komala. However, I'm not only aware of three dead, but at least nine dead and many wounded. The confusion lies in the fact that they also call themselves Iranian Peshmerga of Komala, while the updated figure is that of Iraqi Peshmerga. There are several Iraqi parties and militias, and many Iranian militias from multiple groups united in the Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan, composed of Iranian Kurds rebelling against the Iranian government and exiled in Iraqi Kurdistan. Source: https://kurdpa.net/en/news/2026/07/28 ~2026-35090-14 (talk) 16:13, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

You are mistaken, I was not referencing the latest event but one from March. RamHez (talk) 16:18, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
So these are two separate attacks, both in Iraqi Kurdistan: three Iraqi Kurds from the Peshmerga in March and nine Iranian Kurds from Komala on July 17th? However, the losses, as I saw in the total on the casualties page, even in the latter, should be attributed to Iraq and not to Iranian Kurdistan, where ten Iranian Kurds had already died in the guerrilla warfare in Iran. ~2026-30628-51 (talk) 10:29, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I did not attribute to Iranian Kurdistan, I attributed to Asayish & Peshmerga in Iraqi Kurdistan. Not anything to do with Iranian Kurdistan. RamHez (talk) 11:35, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, but I meant the page Casualties of the 2026 Iran war where the 9 killed on July 17 were placed not under Iraq, but in Iranian Kurdistan, where there were already 10 Iranian Kurds killed in Iran in the clashes in Iranian Kurdistan. ~2026-30628-51 (talk) 12:15, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Furthermore, regarding the casualties in Iraq among the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), the only source for June 19 (https://web.archive.org/web/20260619025142/https://shafaq.com/en/Security/PMF-reports-80-killed-270-wounded-since-start-of-US-Iran-war) speaks of only 80 dead and 270 wounded. I have not found any source that speaks of 85 deaths; subsequently there was no update, a bit as if the conflict in Iraq was a somewhat forgotten war, but the ceasefire stopped Iran's attacks, but it did not stop the ground fighting between the PMF and the Kurds above all. ~2026-30628-51 (talk) 12:20, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah yes, I understand your point now. It is a confusing issue. I'm not sure how to handle it. Why not make insert boxes for the specific Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan casualties on that table? RamHez (talk) 13:10, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
