Not bureaucratic

Hello. Just in case there was any doubt in light of your reply here, of course I know that Wikipedia nonetheless continues to work through meaningful, substantive discussion between editors
. I'm not as green as I am cabbage looking!
I do not think it is at all bureaucratic, procedural or technical to object to discussing the disposition of some tens of articles at a poorly filed AfD. Rather we should save editor time by discussing them in a way that all interested parties are able to contribute. I really don't think any administrator would consider the current discussion at all binding on any of the articles linked from the navigation list article. - @SunloungerFrog: However the AfD was filed, it's pretty clear what the intent was. The main issue I guess is that none of those pages have an AfD notice on them so there is the possibility that watchers wouldn't know of the discussion, which is a valid complaint I guess.
- Having said that, my point was just that closing procedurally won't save editor time, it will waste it because an exact replica discussion would presumably be opened - better to just discuss the substance imo. And if the discussion is well attended and consensus forms, I don't see why it couldn't be valid as a merger discussion (fwiw I don't think consensus has formed though, so it will probably go no consensus anyway).
- I didn't mean to cast any doubt on yours or any other editors understanding of Wikipedia though, I just wanted to build up my point from common ground - I'm happy to strike parts of my comment if you think necessary. Shapeyness (talk) 01:57, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- The page watchers problem is exactly what I was concerned about, and why I think no admin would consider it binding. For me the intent wasn't especially clear, and apparently srnec neither. Anyway, it seems that the nominator is not going to try and fix it, going by their last comment, so I guess we can just wait and see what happens. No need to strike anything.
