June 2026 GAN Backlog Drive notice

[edit]

Hi there! Thanks for signing up for the June 2026 GAN backlog drive! We have noticed that you have made little to no reviews during the drive. We, the coordinators, would appreciate if you'd pick up at least one GAN to review until the end of the month! Thank you. Vacant0 (talk contribs) 12:26, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Vacant0 Hi there! I've already reviewed one article, which was then re-reviewed by an experienced reviewer. see Jared McCann. thanks! hoping to do another one soon Yojo98 (talk) 12:35, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I just awarded the points for your review! Thanks for your great work -- it was well done. When you do your next one, just a fiddly formatting note for the drive tracking, the {{done}} checkmark is for the coordinators to tick off which reviews have been scored; when you've finished the review itself, you can add {{icon|GA}} to show it passed (or {{icon|FGAN}} to show it failed) and that will let us know that the review itself is done. Not a big deal and I added the GA icon for you for the first one. I hope you'll take on a second, and thanks again for joining the drive! ~ le 🌸 valyn (talk) 22:25, 21 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
ah gotcha! I added the checkmark since I thought that was why you thought I hadn't finished it yet! No worries either way. I appreciate your involvement, it's a very cool project and I learned a lot! Yojo98 (talk) 00:33, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Cueto

[edit]

It's not WP:OR to make these changes and I'm not making the two year accepted standard up. I can't find a direct link either with a discussion but this has been widely accepted for a long time. Most players don't announce an official retirement (Bonds, Greinke, Bumgarner come to mind), meaning these changes naturally have to come at some point. I'm not gonna revert again because I don't want to edit war, but also because it technically hasn't been exactly two years until the end of August. Also guessing there's still a small chance he signs in the Mexican League like numerous other older former players do. But these changes need to come at some point. He can't be listed as "free agent" for years without playing like some way outdated articles do. Yankees10 15:44, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hiya! I appreciate your message here and I agree that there needs to be some policy or linkable consensus on this. I totally understand and agree with where you're coming from re: no official announcement. I'm certainly newer to Wikipedia than you are and dabble across multiple projects, so I'm mostly interested in the intersection of common sense (hasn't played in a while) vs the potential negative consequences to a BLP by including speculative or unconfirmed information.
BTW, it does look like he played in the LIDOM in winter 2025, at least per Sarah Langs (https://x.com/slangsonsports/status/1876029920570376203?s=46) Yojo98 (talk) 15:53, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball#Changing "free agent" players to "former" to see if anyone can find these discussions about this.-- Yankees10 15:58, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Great! I've also done a bit of Googling and Cueto played significantly in the 2024-25 LIDOM season (30 innings) and I found a source showing that he was preparing to play in the 2025-2026 season (https://colimdo.org/noticias/johnny-cueto-se-alista-para-volver-a-contribuir-con-los-leones-del-escogido/), although I need to verify that further. It seems he still got coverage in Spanish, just nothing lately in english Yojo98 (talk) 16:14, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Saint Michaels, Maryland, a link pointing to the disambiguation page 2020 Census was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
