Andrea Cau né en 1978 est un paléontologue italien spécialiste des vertébrés.

Biographie

Halszkaraptor escuilliei fossile

Titulaire d'un master of science (2013) de l'Université d'Aquila, il a été employé par l'université de Bologne comme candidat doctorant. Cau a obtenu un doctorat en sciences de la vie, de la Terre et de l'environnement en 2017.

Il se consacre à l'étude de la cladistique des dinosaures. Cau a nommé le théropode dromaeosauridé Halszkaraptor en 2017. Il a également réanalysé le théropode Balaur, le classant parmi les avialiens basaux (oiseaux primitifs) plutôt que parmi les dromaeosauridés[1],[2].
