Airbnb Hosts have earned $150 billion since we started.
It began when my roommate Joe and I couldn't pay our rent. We inflated 3 air mattresses and created an Airbed & Breakfast.
Sometimes when you solve your own problem, you're onto something bigger...
Airbnb just reached 2 billion guests. It took 14 years to get to our first billion and only 3 more years to reach the second. Thank you to everyone for giving us a chance.
Our Q1 results are in:
102M nights booked
$1.5B revenue (70% Y/Y)
$(19)M net loss
$229M Adjusted EBITDA
$1.2B free cash flow
2 years ago, our business dropped 80%, our IPO was put on hold, and some didn’t think we’d make it at all.
Here’s how we turned Airbnb around:
We have canceled all Airbnb reservations in DC for Inauguration week.
Guests will be issued a full refund and hosts will still be paid in full for these canceled bookings.
Here are your top suggestions
1. Lower cleaning fees
2. Better search & filters
3. Verified listings
4. Better customer service
5. Guest loyalty program
6. Total price with taxes
7. Better review system
8. Lower prices
Working on all of this. More upgrades coming this summer
