Marcel Fontenot grew up wading nets in the shallow waters off Grand Isle, learning the rhythms of the Gulf before he could read a recipe. By twenty-two he had earned his first Michelin star in Lyon. By thirty, he came home.
Today, Chef Fontenot helms Maréa, his celebrated restaurant in New Orleans’ Warehouse District. Drawing on Creole tradition and classical French technique, he transforms the waters of Louisiana into something unforgettable — a cuisine that belongs to no menu category but his own.
