I think this year's WordCamp US will be one of the best conferences for digital agencies. Showcase Day on August 17th is a chance to see how other agencies and developers are pushing the boundaries of what's possible with WordPress and navigating the new AI world we are in. There are lots of great speakers this year geared towards agencies. Here's just a sample: 1. Andrew Adam - Your Client Forgot the Training. Now What? 2. Vivek Jain - The WordPress Agency Is Becoming Invisible: Why That Is a Good Thing 3. Mike Miler - The Update Day: A Bulletproof Maintenance Workflow for WordPress Agencies 4. Miriam Schwab - The Agentic Web Is Coming – Is WordPress Ready? 5. Daniel Paz - Staying Relevant as a WordPress Developer in 2026 Of course, our Automattic for Agencies team will be there as well, and we'd love to meet you! If you haven't signed up yet, you can do that here. https://lnkd.in/gxzK7kHJ Use the code AGENCY25 for 25 percent off your ticket.

  • The open web is built by the people behind the platforms. That's easy to forget until you walk into a room full of WordPress folks trading ideas and troubleshooting each other's sites. The WordPress.com guide to finding your local community is worth a read for anyone who uses WordPress and hasn't met their people yet.

You may know that WordPress powers over 40 percent of the web. But there’s also a powerful community behind it, with endless meetups and ways to connect IRL. Here are three easy ways in: 🔹Local meetups: Informal, only a few hours long, and nobody checks credentials at the door. You can find one near you in the events directory. 🔹WordCamps: Talks, workshops, a sponsor hall, and one coming up soon. Don’t miss WordCamp US in Phoenix, Arizona from August 16 to 19! 🔹The Events and News widget in WP Admin: Set your city once, and it surfaces nearby events for you. If you use WordPress, you're already part of the community. The only step left is showing up. Check out our guide to finding your local WordPress community, now live on our blog: https://lnkd.in/ejjK9rrr

Every WordPress request incurs the bootstrap cost of every active plugin, whether or not it uses them — and at WooCommerce.com scale, that tax got expensive enough to do something about. So I wrote up how we do selective plugin loading in production: a small mu-plugin that trims the active plugin list per route, before WordPress loads any plugins. On the endpoints we tuned, it saved more than half the memory and 35-45% of the response time, without changing a line of plugin code. It's been running for over two years on one of the largest WooCommerce installs out there. Full write-up: https://lnkd.in/gyy7kGZ5 #WordPress #WooCommerce #WebPerformance #PHP

  • We want to help people understand what open source actually is. The web didn't always feel like someone else's property. At our San Francisco Code for the People panel and screening, we dove into how to make it that way again. We packed the house at KQED. The panel featured WordPress co-founder and our CEO Matt Mullenweg, producer Michael Dinh, KQED Editor-in-Chief Ethan Toven-Lindsey, and Bay Area Video Coalition Media Executive Director Paula Smith Arrigoni . They brought real energy to a conversation about ownership, open collaboration, and why the future of the web belongs to the people building it–and the people using it. • Some websites are a launchpad for a whole community. 🎙️ Meet Women at Work, a podcast from Heystudio founder Verònica Fuerte that amplifies female creatives across design, creativity, and innovation. It started from a trend she'd seen her entire career: women have always shaped the design industry; they just haven't always gotten the credit. Her fix? Put those voices front and center, so the next generation can see themselves in them. When the podcast grew big enough to need its own home, the choice was easy. Hey Studio already ran on WordPress, and as Verònica puts it, "I know that WordPress is going to be forever." Now episodes, guest stories, and the mission all live in one place on WordPress.com, with a professional presence that matches the quality of the conversations. And she's thinking even bigger. A podcast, she says, is a community, and this one is just getting started. 🌟 Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gRWgjixH
