Template talk:Beers of the world

I just created this to make navigation a bit easier when browsing around the various beers and breweries of the world. Please be encouraged to change the organization or design as you like, this was just an approach that struck me as reasonable and that I used to put together this first version. The lists of countries are still incomplete, and you may disagree with some of the group and list assignments, in which case change it! --Daniel11 08:46, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Stopping by

Totally came by this by chance after having read up on another ANI issue. Although I cant condone any battleground mentality, lots of sources point to Armenia being in Europe, or at least bi-continental like Russia or Turkey. Azerbaijan and Turkey are in the Europe category. Its incorrect that Armenia and Georgia are not either. DaltonCastle (talk) 04:19, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

As of March 2025 Turkey is in Asia which does seem inconsistent, and it really boils down to how people mix geography, politics, and culture when categorising countries.

Geography:

Turkey is a transcontinental country, with land in both Europe and Asia.

Russia is mostly in Asia, but a smaller part west of the Ural Mountains is in Europe.

Cyprus is geographically in the eastern Mediterranean, closer to the Middle East and Asia, but is often grouped with Europe for political and cultural reasons.

The Double Standard:

If Cyprus is considered European because of its EU membership, Turkey’s ties to Europe should count too.

If the landmass is the deciding factor, Russia should be in Asia.

Basically, these labels often ignore the complexity of borders, history, and identity, relying on simplistic or politically motivated frameworks.

It shows how arbitrary these labels can be. There shouldn't be a categotisation by continent if people fail to do it properly. Oocalan (talk) 14:48, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
