BARANGAY ASERDA

Barangay Aserda used to be known as Luyan Balandang.  It was then a sitio of Luyan – Sta. Maria North and because of its distance from Sta. Maria North, Councilman Pedro Tandingan and Arnulfo Datuin solicited the help of Atonio Navarro, councilor of the first district to sponsor a resolution asking for the conversion of sitio Balandang into a separate barangay.  The municipal council approved the resolution and so barangay Aserda was.  The name Aserda came from the family names of the very first family who lived there.  “A” from Aquino family, “Ser” from Serafica and Rodriguez, and “Da” from Datuin family.  Then Councilor Loreto Aquino gave that coined word “Aserda” to become the official name of the new barangay.

It has three major streets namely; Caimito St., Mango Avenue, and Fire Tree Avenue  this barangay is only a kilometer away from the Poblacion and can easily be reached by tricycles that abound, through the concrete roads.

The residents derive their income primarily from the production of rice, corn and vegetables and fruits such as mango, coconut and bananas.  At present, there are 15 sari-sari stores and two junkshops in Aserda.  Because of its proximity to Poblacion, Aserda has no school nor health center of its own but it has its own Day Care Center.  The Municipal Slaughterhouse nestles on the barangay and the Community Hospital is its immediate neighbor.
