Nathan Allen Blouin[1] (born May 16, 1989)[2] is an American politician and climate policy advocate who represents Utah's 13th Senate District in the Utah State Senate. A progressive Democrat,[3] Blouin unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic nomination in Utah's 1st congressional district in the 2026 U.S. House elections.
Education and early career
[edit]Blouin received his associate's degree from Salt Lake Community College and his bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He graduated from Brown University with a Master of Public Administration[failed verification].[4] Before being elected, Blouin claimed in an op-ed to have worked with unspecified clean energy groups and environmental organizations to promote renewable energy.[5]
Political career
[edit]Blouin announced his candidacy for the Utah State Senate in 2022; his priorities included clean air and affordable housing.[7] He won the Democratic primary against incumbent Gene Davis with nearly 76% of the vote.[2] In the general election, he beat Republican Roger L. Stout with 72% of the vote.[8][9]
In 2024, Blouin was selected for the Energy & Environment Innovation Fellowship hosted by Future Caucus, a bipartisan cohort for legislators concerned with climate, energy and environmental issues.[10][11]
